ON the other hand my mother got it whilst on a trip to London and simply got on with her trip and was grand in a few days. So it depends on the dose you have really.

The sores have taken a semi circle around my Torso on the right side. Started feeling chest pains on Sunday. Was in Docs Monday and he thought it was some sort of Rib Issue. The pain never subsided and the sores started to appear yesterday evening and really started showing off this morning. Back today in docs and it's textbook Shingles. It is like someone is squeezing me constantly with the occasional big unwanted squeeze thrown in. I've definitely had pains since Sunday. Hopefully only a week more of them.

I note the newspaper reports didn't suggest the prosecution intervened in defence of the comment either. Seems like a normal enough exchange. Interesting in the context of that case but not really noteworthy otherwise.
That's not likely to be an issue now given the road plan the government announced. I hadn't put any thought to the legality of the requirements if I am honest. The question is so broad I'm not sure I'd even be comfortable answering it without a more specific issue to discuss.

I'm no Bertie Ahern socialist but this article about wealth inequality in the US blew my mind. Then I read about the change in gun laws and the mass shooting rates in the US and i just think the US is off the list even for holidays at this stage....

CNN article on Texas gun laws....A new pro-gun law in Texas that went into effect Wednesday allows most Texans who legally own a firearm to carry it openly in public without obtaining a permit or training, a measure that experts say will make it more challenging for law enforcement to protect the public from gun violence.‘IF YOU had not committed great sins, God would not have sent a punishment like me upon you.” Genghis Khan

Pain was only bad for a few days. Kind of a burning pain.
Doc said it was a bad case of it as there were so many nodes (whatever they are)
Took ages for the scars to heal though.Last edited by dinekes; 02-09-21, 18:32.

Taxi driver was playing the news and it's maybe the first time in a decade I've listened to the Irish news, since ditching the telly. They were just going on and on about this Zappone story like it meant something vital. I think it'll be at least another decade before I'm going near that crap again. It genuinely seems harmful to be making such a big deal of such a small story when there's so much to be done in the country. Like the lack of housing and the announcement today - that should have been dissected - of 300k houses. That's what the national attention should be on - on building the future."We're not f*cking Burundi" - Big Phil

Tech question. I was having a problem which was baffling me. An app on my phone wasn't working via wifi in my house anymore but would using data, it also worked elsewhere on wifi. Anyhoos after much head scratching and fiddling I found that switching from ipv4 + ipv6 to just ipv4 on the router solves it. Before I sound like a big shot tech wizard, I have no actual clue what ipv is or the difference between the the two.
My question is what effect does switching to ipv4 only have?
edit: I put it back to both ipvs and when I do a test on ipv6-test.com is says I don't have ipv6 connectivity. Should that be?Last edited by hotspur; 02-09-21, 20:32.

I love the theatre of announcing '300,000 NEW HOUSES!!!'.
Like people still think that Government plans translate into execution. Reminds of the time we successfully met our climate targets under the old Climate Action Plans. Or that Dublin metro we now enjoy. Or the innumerable plans to reform health. Or...you get the picture.

By people saying its only this or that, leave them off...golfgate, zappone etc, you are giving them a pass in their eyes.
When the shinners get in because the current ones feel they can get away with anything and treat the people with literal contempt, ministers phones are not secure ? Will you fuck right off. It will be because people like yourself gave them noone to be held accountable toThis too shall pass.

- had one of their councillors call Leo a homo foreigner
- had one of their councillors arrested for shooting up a hotel
- campaigned against accommodation aimed exclusively at foreign workers
- offshored their data on the Irish population to Serbian tech management
We can quibble around how I've defined these things, but I feel each of those stories is more worthy a story than a minor position going to a party connection.
So I don't get the logic of how we should discuss this particular shitty little story all summer and gloss over the stories of the government-in-waiting.
And I'm not saying this because I want there to be more analysis of SF. I find all these types of stories (including those I mention above) pointless. I just think it's dangerous when the media starts dictating these things so severely that it influences national perception.

"The Orange County Employees Retirement System’s investment in Bridgewater Associates’s Pure Alpha fund has returned an annualized 4.5% since 2005, about 2.5 percentage points less than its benchmark, according to a memo seen by Bloomberg from Meketa Investment Group, the pension’s consultant. The strategy has topped OCERS’s target only once in the past five years and has trailed on a seven- and 10-year time horizon."Last edited by Hectorjelly; 02-09-21, 22:08.

1) Your memory
2) Your ability to tell if someone is "smart"
3) A general sense of smartness meaning they are more likely to be right about something they aren't an expert on

I get why, politically, the government has to be seen to be doing something.' A plan PR launch is 'something', here we have done it.'
In an era where we facing rampant building cost inflation and the building labour force has been hallowed out, that plan is <searches for polite term> optimistic. And that's before you even think how shit we are at delivering on such plans.
Alternate plan: we'd be better off to offer everyone on the social housing list 250k to emigrate. It would be cheaper."We are not Europeans. Those people on the continent are freaks."

With the aging population surely more and more houses and being lived in by fewer and fewer people. As it stands there are probably many living with their parents saving for a house with no light at the end of the tunnel. There are probably many many more who have moved out leaving big houses and empty rooms behind them all over the city.
If you tackle that equation somehow you might be on the road to housing a few more Ks. I heard recently we are at a 20/21st century population high.

Leading to the rise of media favourites like Johnson as he gives good copy. Historically, for right or for wrong, the Irish media has been less intrusive. I think we've a better country as a result. I also think the rise of a British party in Irish politics has introduced a lot of these British ways of thinking.
A lot of the agenda these days isn't really agenda-driven, it's 'gotcha' style news that takes its inspiration from online platforms. The objective isn't analysis or even news coverage, its clicks and likes.
And this spawns a vicious short-term news cycle where the government spends most of its time in reactive mode, rather than actually governing.
And we're all to blame in this."We are not Europeans. Those people on the continent are freaks."
