Any thoughts on the Irish Times piece?

The frustrating, but I guess hopeful part of this, is, when I find myself triggered by whatever incoherent or conditioned viewpoints or responses I am able to catch the radical responsibility part of myself and say Ok, dickhead, you are no longer at the seat of awareness, you have slipped into some unconscious state of emotional contortion or otherwise. Off on retreat for three weeks to work on same.

At the airport waiting to fly to France. We have to fill in forms, asking if we have any symptoms and of course our email.

There is one pen provided by the airline circulating between the few hundred passengers.

Does it seem.counter intuitive to you guys to circulate one pen which we will all have to to touch and use given there is a highly infectious virus that we are filling out a form to try and combat.

      Deadpan answer. No.

We have fucking lost the capacity to take a moment to say , that's unusual, just simply that, that's a little odd. And if you do, you are immediately fenced into position you do not necessarily share.

AI is absolutely at the wheel.
Just sanitise your hands after you use the pen, as everyone should be doing anyway. You hardly expect them to have 1000s and 1000s of single use pens. At least use some common sense

Above is exactly what I mean. Contortion. Inwardly your saying this fucking retarded jbravado drooler. The part where we dont blend all the entangled, understandable emotive mess into a big pile of polarity and intolerance is being corroded. I think it's very unusual. I sanitised my hands. Asked someone for a lend of a pen and suggested they sanatise their hands too from behind my mask. No big deal really.

Lol. Inwardly I was saying what a retarded system, why isnt it done online. I dont have an opinion on you personally cos I've never met you, so to judge you would be foolish.

It is no big deal, your OP came across as the opposite.

What do you want to hear? Journalism is fucked up. Journalists are mostly cunts who were were educated stupid in college and then spent too much time on Twitter. Editors write headlines and ledes while journalists write articles, and very often the two are completely different in both meaning and tone, and the journalist can do nothing about it. The industry is bleeding money as a whole. Then you've got independent media running down rabbit holes with absolutely nobody to call them on their bullshit. It's wreaked havoc on our sensemaking abilities. Taking any one article about any one topic and trying to claim anything particular about it is pointless, there's too many things wrong all happening simultaneously.

I stopped sanitising ages ago. Don't think we should be washing our hands that frequently. Don't think they've ever connected hand to surface contact to corona spread, its an airborne illness. Anyway, I'd imagine we should probably be trying to encourage everyone to get corona now that the vaccine has largely taken away the risk of serious illness. Top up our chemical immunity with some natural immunity protections.

Maybe that's all wrong - just spitballing.

Dumb rather than odd, they should be selling pens to anyone who didn't bring their own.

Having spent many hours in queues on arrival in the kind of places that make you fill in dumbass forms on arrival, there is always only one or two pens to share amongst the plane load of people trying to complete the form in the queue. I soon learned to always make sure I had a pen a pen to hand getting off the plane.
I reckon that every African country has a gigantic warehouse packed dense with little slips of paper that no one has nor ever will look at. If AI was at the wheel there would be no more slips of paper, soon when it is there will be no need for such trivialities because it will already know what it needs to keep us safe from ourselves.

Apparently the military are (seriously) complaining that they didn't have enough time

At least the Romans seemed to use their superpower military for useful things that supported the empire. The US seems to be spending the guts of a trillion dollars a year for essentially nothing except depriving their own country of basic resources such as healthcare.

Microsoft's original cringe recommendation was to turn off printing completely for everyone. They've patched it and disabled the ability to install printers in normal automated fashion. In our case, it was breaking every single printer connection on every computer. Fun and games in 24/7 manufacturing where labels and documents are needed to ship product. I was on one of the first flights out of JFK after 9/11.

We're all used to airport security now, but that day was insane. My Dad dropped us off outside after queuing for a couple of hours in traffic. Only passengers were allowed inside. Security searches at the entrance, bag drop, through to departures, getting onto the plane. Really heightened stuff. Took hours to get through.

An hour or two into the Aer Lingus flight I was presented with the in flight shopping magazine.

After all that security I could purchase a manicure set with a scissors and various other sharp implements in it onboard the aircraft.

It's the point and print GPO based deployments that screwed up everywhere. Some poor bastards with 1000's of users and dozens of sites all with different printers/drivers. I always wondered if it was exploitable tbh.

If MS had a baked-in easy way to push drivers in the background as admin it would be a much smaller issue. There are options with SCCM and building images but that's beyond the realms of most organisations that don't have dedicated specialists or relevant licensing.

Budget permitting, you and family could jump on a plane to Nantes early next week for maybe €200 for the family each way, then have a cheap excellent week in a Loire campsite as they are all under capacity, and be back refreshed in time for the new school year. Never been a better time for a last minute cheap holiday.

Have been for weeks at this stage. Abbey have had a few showings with reduced capacity.

If data centres in Ireland are using proportionally less energy than other countries then that should be recognised as the net win it is. Or indeed, the new Chinese factory producing shoes is probably vastly more energy efficient than the original Italian factories. Should we judge China / Ireland for these net global wins, despite their domestic energy usage rising? Or what about when Nigeria, Indonesia, Pakistan, the next emerging countries start really growing. Is it fair to proscribe cheaper dirtier energy for them when Europe / US had the benefit of that cheaper energy in the past. If we proscribe it globally in the interests of the world, should we richer countries make payments to those countries to compensate?

Both the Fringe Festival and Dublin Theatre Festival are going ahead this year. People complain about a two tier system with indoor hospitality and digital Covid certs as if there weren't already two tier systems everywhere. The DTF opened bookings for Friends (min €120 donation) on Wednesday and it won't open for randomers until the 24th, two weeks later.

Now it was always the case that some shows could book up, but presumably with reduced capacity that will be exacerbated significantly. I am considering the following in the DTF:

An annual festival of theatre, music, dance, and family events across Dublin city as well as year-round events for friends and supporters.

An annual festival of theatre, music, dance, and family events across Dublin city as well as year-round events for friends and supporters.

An annual festival of theatre, music, dance, and family events across Dublin city as well as year-round events for friends and supporters.

Ignorance is a shoddy excuse for bad behavior in our information age and correctly an unacceptable excuse in the legal world.
