I’ve a feeling that the Romani angle will draw most attention. Although probably depends on the full details.

The Roma that are here are generally 100% benefits-shopping. Although obviously the amount of Irish doing the same completely dwarfs their small numbers.
Quite a few Roma with kids with disabilities here as they know (a) the facilities are better than in Slovakia\Hungary but more depressingly, (b) in those countries they are frequently denied basic access to services.
But inevitably the conversation will go from 'that Roma murderer (if\when proven) is scum' to 'all Roma are scum'. I'm sure it's already happening on the likes of twitter together some suitably enlightened opinions.

I do remember mistakenly wandering into the Roma part of town in a Kosice (Eastern Slovakia). It was like going back in time to a horrendous slum from the 19th century.
Upon googling, I see I'm in distinguished company!"We are not Europeans. Those people on the continent are freaks."

Does anyone really believe this Sue Grey report will actually be factual? Like, she’s a civil servant so would it not be similar to a civil servant in the Justice department here being expected to produce a damning, independent report on the Justice Minister?
*Sees reports today of attempts to blackmail, influence and intimidate unruly Tory members.

Naval gasing on this question.
I’m not so sure I’d be too comfortable allowing a Roma gypsy Taxi driver dropping my niece/sister home for the City to the sticks. So I guess I’m a racist now father. However I do not think immigration causes these incidents. I do welcome the melting pot that is modern Ireland so I would hate to curb immigration to suit myself or anyone else with this ‘ taxi man’ discriminative thinking.

Nice man, I always talk about running with him. He ran for the army back in his day and is/was 8 minutes quicker over 10k than me. Gentle soul.
Gave him a lift this morning and he was raging about immigrant savages and how we shouldn't be letting them in.
I reminded him about all the lovely Polish and Lithuanian staff in our local shop and how it's not fair to blame them. He calmed down a bit and agreed.
I'd be pretty sure there's a lot more like him.
You can pretty much ignore the noise on social media, that's always been there, a little braver now maybe. It's the ordinary oul lad I'd be concerned about.I hold silver in tit for tat, and I love you for that

Solks you might know him. He lives in one of those old bungalows near the graveyard and is always out walking back and forth to the shop in a flat cap and tweed jacket. Has a funny walk.
Francis is his name. Had a bad motorbike accent as a young man and is not 100% mentally as a result. He knows his running though and has given me some good advice.
He really appreciates people stopping for a chat if you ever encounter him.I hold silver in tit for tat, and I love you for that

Essentially it will be used to shut down or at least try to drown out the IMO completely separate to the murder conversation around cutting down on arse grabbing in nightclubs and catcalling on the street.
There will be a move to change it from Irish men should do better to we have to be careful of those immigrants.
Will be happy to be wrong but I doubt I will be.

No this man is tall and gangly.
Funny thing is, he's not actually that old, he lives there with his mother. Mid to late 60s I think.
He does look far older than that though.I hold silver in tit for tat, and I love you for that

When I was playing Squash league, we had a match in the Curragh Camp. Anyway I was subbing up to the top team that night and playing their no. 5 position. My match was against a supremely fit but naïve Squash player. Anyhow I went 2-0 lost my focus and he levels to 2 all, eventually I got the best in a loooong game so finished very late. Afterwards their team invited us to the Bar (I presume officers mess).
Anyway I was at the bar loudly ordering a pint of Guinness when some officer sitting at a table with some of his boys piped up. THE BAR IS CLOSED . (must have been HJs relative) as he completed his sentence TO THE LIKES OF YOU. I’m thinking he meant civilians, (or Drimnagh cunts). So I got indignant, WTF , you have no authority to speak to me like that you fucker I PAY YOUR WAGES . (cringe). A silence descended in the Mess , the guys at his table looked a bit shocked but slightly amused to see what Capt Big mouth was going to do next. Before he had the chance to spit at me the Squash boys ushered me out of the bar , when we got to the hall way one of them doubled up , OMGD I bet nobody has spoke to him like that in years. Now we have to shoot you. This story got back to the Club
and quite often when I was ordering a coke or something from the dock in the squash club Albert (rip , manager) would loudly proclaim. THE BAR IS CLOSED TO THE LIKES OF YOU.
Yeah , Army guys are fuckers. Kayroo is talking about the Salvation Army .

I reckon if you met a black guy from NY in say London he would probably tell you he was American.
I doubt he would say to you 'I'm African American'

Afternoon folks
I was contacted a couple weeks back about doing a "Get To Know The Poker Media" interview and I'm just trying to write up some of the answers to the questions. I was just looking back at some of the old live update threads and there was a sense of nostalgia & pride in it. When I think I've been around poker 10+ years sometimes I forget I've been around that long.
One of the questions is "How did you first get into the poker industry and for how long have you been doing it?" It's turning out to be a long winded answer to this question. If any of you have any memories of me from way back in the day and you want to share them please do. Be nice if I could incorporate them into my answers.
The main jist of how I got into poker was a friend of mine was running his college poker society so I started to learn to play poker from him, joined boards.ie then we had the parting of ways and became IPB. Around that time I wasn't working and we were getting asked to cover events so I remember popping along to them to try and help out and to get some traction for the site. Just starting out doing live updates around the Irish Open and then doing updates for the likes of D4 Events & JP etc it was actually at a D4 Events where one of the first times I truly remember having access to a camera.
All of that subsequently lead me to where I am today..."you raise, i kill you" El Tren :{)

Where would a man that has decided to make use of this extra Paddy’s Day Bank Holiday this year source a few Gold Cup tickets? I know RDIII may suggest shelling out for the corporate box but that’s very much last resort stuff. The sport that unites Catholic, Protestant and dissenter has had its day of days. Pity anybody who can't enjoy it. Some day. Gerry Thornley 23/3/09

First thing - tell your insurance company you don't have an alarm, even if you do. It only put €30 onto our premium, and the security geeks at boards reckon it gives you an important out if you ever get robbed after heading out and not setting your alarm / forgetting to do it.
Second call - have yee wired sensors / wiring for sensors, or are yous after wireless?
Third - Pay up front or pay as you go?
For us, we're gonna get a self monitored install of a HKC wired alarm (house already wired) with app, video monitoring etc for the guts of €1k installed. No ongoing cost other than the app subscription which I think is about €50 a year.. Company is D-Tect, young lad, seems sound - will give you details.
Wireless option via HomeSecure seems reasonable, they do a €99 install and €30 a month monitoring package that you cancel after 3 years (total cost a little over 1.2k) and get full access to the app and self monitoring from then on. This outfit got bought by PhoneWatch recently so potential that they're changing what they supply / the 3 year policy stuff - so do check.
They install an AJAX alarm - which if you're fierce handy / bothered can buy yourself and install from this mad named website but boards nerds have recommended - https://best-alarm-system.eu/. You'll need to figure out all your requirements / sensor count / siren etc

Not sure any monitored system is value for money but fucking hell Eircom Phonewatch has to be the biggest burning cash crappest value product there is.
I had them trying to sign me up when I moved in. I'd be in the hole now to them for about €18k had I.
Spent €400 on an alarm that is still as good and effective as it was 17 years ago.
No matter what system you have a burglar is going to smash and grab and leave within a couple of minutes with an alarm blaring.
With insurance and everything else are you ever going to be out of pocket by more than €2k?
Peoole say, well Eircom say, that the burglar will avoid a house with their logo on the box.
I had an idea years ago, didn't do it in the end, of printing Eircom Phonewatch stickers and going door to door with a ladder selling them for €50.
I hold silver in tit for tat, and I love you for that

Burglars ?
Simply set up series of booby traps in the house to injure or burn them but dont let it get that far . Using ropes and pulleys and some human sized carboard cut out to make it appear the house is bustling with revelers. Perhaps play a gangster movie in the kitchen and pause play scenes with threats and gunfire in it . Why pay for security and ruin the whole show . ?

Hotspur's thoughts on how people will handle 'the end of all this' would be interesting.
Everyone living in a state of tension for 2 years and then told 'all grand now', you would imagine some would find it very discombobulating."We are not Europeans. Those people on the continent are freaks."
