Thanks luckiest of lloyds. Xenforo + chipping in for costs sounds perfect. I suspect poker *could* come roaring back and we'll scoop up the market.

    * can we also have the ability to manage our data? I wonder if a few people who've left have left because of the dangers of having so much private-ish data without the ability to remove it.

    Thank you all!!

  • In relation to ongoing Site Performance Issues

    Hello everyone.

For quite some time now the site has been creaking along. Performance is poor, we've had downtime, things aren't as they should be. And everyone hates the new vBulletin design. Dom and James have done a ton of work in their very limited spare time to try and improve things, put band aids where they can see blood, etc. But we clearly need a more fundamental solution (and if the lads didn't have families and jobs, etc they would no doubt be able to sort it themselves but hey ho). We have lost dedicated regular members of the community who lost patience due to all this. And who can blame them?

We have not been unaware and have been mulling over different options on WhatsApp on what to do.

    We need input:

    1. Is there interest in a proper mobile app?
    2. Do people feel strongly enough that they hate the current software and want to move to a different platform, such as Xenforo?
    3. If needed, would enough people be willing to chip in for costs if we tripled our running costs by moving to a dedicated server solution?

The unfortunate reality is that we can't go back to the old vBulletin version and we had no option other than to upgrade as plugins were falling over, etc.

The forum is never going to rejuvenate to any great extent largely because a new poker boom isn't on the horizon and the way in which active poker players interact has dramatically changed. This means there is no commercial incentive to invest large amounts of money or time. If we're doing something it is because we like the place and we have a personal connection to it.

So yeah, thoughts and opinions welcome.
