Normally do an update on these bank holiday weekends, listing how well/badly our selections are doing in the more obscure events. Different this year sadly.
So I thought I'd check to see how our 40 events stack up in the midst of covid-19, and whether there is some path to having a reasonable competition.
Ideally I'd like to get the comp played, seeing as everyone spent at least an hour coming up with initial selections.
I'm not an expert by any means, but I got the sense the last week that there seems to be a desire to start getting things back up and running worldwide, and sport would likely be a part of that. Whether the 'curve' is flattening enough I don't know.
Anyway, after a bit of research this seems to be the state of play of the 40 events.
Finished Events 3
Started events- intention still to finish 6
Started events – not sure if intend to finish 3
Events not yet started, still intending to go-ahead 19
Definitely cancelled Events 9
Possible replacement events
To keep the spirit of the 'picking in advance' I'd have a cut-off point (30/06 or 31/07 seem good) for selections for these events.
So I think on balance there still exists a chance we can get a decent competition out of this. So we carry on for the time being and see where things stand in another month.
