Or maybe for a more leftfield one, the top scorer from play in the Championship?

Particularly for events starting in the first half of year, I can look again at July onwards events later.
I can't figure a way to get hurling in with Limerick 8/13fav. Without Limerick maybe.
    F1 still seems uncompetitive.
    Heineken Cup is a mess.

My plan is to finalize on Wednesday 12th, deadline Saturday 22nd when NFL quarter-finals kick off. Think 10 days is enough time for ~25 events.

Wade beats up King 5-0 so the worst he can get now is a half-point (his worst case is 4 English in semi-finals, & he loses. But he'd still get a half-point for joint 3rd place. So job done)

So I'm going to declare it as First Place premierstone €400 and Second Place Keane €120.
I've a family day today so will contact you both tomorrow afternoon for bank details (I still don't have Revolut !) and will transfer during the week when I'm in town (probably Thursday).

If anyone has spotted a mistake (especially one which gets you in the money) then let me know in by Monday at the latest as I won't rectify beyond that. I'm pretty certain it's accurate though.
I'll give a final table when the darts is over as luckforsome could leap up to 4th place yet.

Seems to be enough interest in 2022 (8 people thanked the post, plus me obv) so I'll aim to get the list of events by 10th January with a planned start date of 22nd Jan (Superbowl quarter-final day).

    Cheers.

One to go, the World Darts Championship Best English player which continues until possibly the 3rd of January in this inaccurately named 2021 Multisport Competition.
Rob Cross and Ryan Searle eliminated this evening.

Quarter Final line up (English players bolded)
    Gerwyn Price v Michael Smith
    James Wade v Mervyn King
    Peter Wright v Callum Rydz
    Luke Humphries v Gary Anderson

premierstone just needs a share of 3rd place to get the half-point to break the tie with Keane.
If Wade wins then premierstone is definitely safe.
He also has a backup even if Wade loses - he'd need just two of Price, Wright and Anderson to beat their English opponents.
So looks to me that it definitely ends for money purposes with Saturdays quarter-finals.

    4-2-1 points for 1st, 2nd, 3rd.
If players get knocked out in the same round then they are considered to have tied - I ignore averages, margin of defeat, who played first etc.
This event could go into the first few days of January, though recent history suggests not.
I'm just praying they don't postpone the last 8 until April or something, will close account and run away if that happens.

Aspinall has been eliminated from the darts 0-4 in the last 32. No miracle reprieve this time.
There are 8 English in the last 16 so far, including Searle, Cross and Wade. Ian White might make it 9 if he beats Gary Anderson in the final L32 tie tonight (spoiler, he won't).
8 is more than usual, helped by the Dutch having a big covid party on Christmas Day.

Aspinall's elimination means Keane can no longer win, a tie is the best he can hope for. What clown made him 8/11 fav?
ArmaniJeans can win if Ryan Searle gets the max 4 and Wade gets nothing.
RichieM can have a (unsatisfactory) 3-way tie if Cross gets the max 4 and Wade gets nothing.
premierstone wins if Wade gets 1.5 points, but even a fraction of a point would be enough if Searle and Cross don't get the 4.

    So lets play darts.
Last 16 ties all tomorrow - Wade v Martin Kleermarker. Ryan Searle v Peter Wright. Rob Cross v Gary Anderson/Ian White.

Cheers, I definitely try to change about 12-15 of the events each year, though to an extent this happens naturally - e.g., no Ryder Cup, Euro2020 or Lions tour this year, so Presidents Cup and FIFA World Cup can come in for first two. I'd worry about the Women's Rugby World Cup being open enough with NZ being host and having won 5 of the last 6. If the Heineken Cup situation is clearer by Jan it'd be useful to me!
Will definitely have a Winter Olympic event in if we go again - curling or ice-hockey seem the obvious choice.

Was planning on dropping Super League Rugby League as waiting 7 months to see St Helens beat Wigan or Catalan has gotten repetitive. The RL World Cup would be a good replacement, shorter and more focussed even if there's only 4 possible winners.
Will have a look at the Munich events.
And really want to bring back NFL Superbowl which will be at 8 teams remaining on 22nd January, so that's a likely start date.

Definite swing to premierstone yesterday with WBA's defeat at Derby; then Newcastle getting an unwelcome draw v MUFC which will make it slightly more difficult for them to get 4 points, though still possible.
And finally in the darts James Wade got a bye through to the last 16, so Aspinall will have to get through to last 8 minimum to outscore Wade.

    2022?

These things always have a shelf-life, so not sure if people want another edition in 2022.
Let me know by 'liking' or replying if you want to go again. Newbies and returnees always welcome.
If there's enough interest (8 players probably my min number) then I'll spend some time looking at the calendar to come up with events spread nicely through the year..
Would be the usual end-of-January start.
Or if someone else wants to run it with their own blueprint, let me know.

Newc finish up v MUFC and @Everton. Norwich v Arsenal and @Palace. Burnley v Everton and @MUFC. Hard to call.

EPL Top Scorer - Salah way ahead, unpicked Jota 2nd. Realistically Kane and DCL aren't going to score any points and Salah will get 4. So the only question is will Jamie Vardy, currently in 3rd place get 2 or 1 or 0 points, or some fraction of points. Salah is so far ahead I'm going to award him the 4 points in this analysis.

Championship - Tight. Fulham lead Bournemouth by 2 points, unpicked Blackburn in 3rd and WBA in 4th. WBA could still win it but advantage Fulham.

Darts - There will be about 14 English players in the last 32. Wade, Searle and Aspinall are there (quite how Aspinall managed it is a different story).Hard to know who is favourite but on the outright market its 18/1 Michael Smith, with Cullen, Searle, Wade and Aspinall all around 28/1. Rob Cross 33/1 but has a difficult second round game v Barney tomorrow and might be 20/1 if he wins that.

Table with 4 points added for Salah to totals of Keane, ArmaniJeans and RichieM

    .
    Paths to Victory.

    premierstone

Joint leader. Against Keane he has Fulham and James Wade against Keane's Newcastle, WBA and Aspinall. Clan Des Obeaux is good for him against everyone else.

    Keane
Joint Leader. Against premierstone he has Newcastle, WBA and Aspinall up against premierstone's Fulham and James Wade. Clan Des Obeaux is good for him against everyone else.

    ArmaniJeans deficit 3 points.
Against premiestone he has 4 chances - Chantry House, Norwich, WBA and Ryan Searle. premierstone has just 3 - Clan Des Obeaux, Fulham and Wade. Tricky but doable.
Against Keane he has 3 chances - Chantry House, Norwich, Searle against Keane trio of Clan Des Obeaux, Newcastle and Aspinall. Even trickier but possible.

    RichieM deficit 4 points.
Needs Frodon, Bournemouth and Rob Cross to put some good points up, preferably with fails for Clan Des Obeaux, Newcastle, Wade, Aspinall etc.
Needs a lot of good things to happen but still alive.

    shrapnel deficit 5 points.
If Minella Indo and Norwich get 4 points each then he'll go ahead of Keane, unless Newcastle & Clan Des Obeaux get 3 points between them.
After that it would be his WBA/Aspinall against premierstones Fulham/Wade. It's not too outlandish really. Any Vardy points could be crucial.

mdoug deficit 6 points - only has Burnley as a differential v Keane so can't make up 6 points. Eliminated.

    pokerhand deficit 7 points.
Chip and a chair stuff. If Fulham, Frodon and Rob Cross get 4 points each he gets to 50. But if that happens both RichieM and premierstone would be on 49. So he would need the rest of their selections to completely blank. so-you're-saying-theres-a-chance.jpg

    limpwhacker deficit 9 points.
Only has two differentials v premierstone so can't make up 9 points. Eliminated.

    Odds (for novelty purposes only).
    Keane 8/11.
    premierstone 2/1.
    ArmaniJeans 5/1.
    shrapnel 8/1.
    RichieM 25/1.
    pokerhand 250/1.

Meh. This will go comically wrong but i'll change horse from CDO to Chantry Horse. 5/1 shot to likely sweep the game, can't resist.

King George Chase next up on the afternoon of the 26th. 4-2-1 points available.
Deadline for changes on this race is strictly 21:59 on the 21st (Tuesday).
I'll try some analysis on Wednesday after Searle, Aspinall & Cullen have played their first game which might make it clearer.

what a game of 2 halves. France just blew norway out of the water and was leading by 6 just before the break. Norway cut the lead to 4 in the last minute, then came out of the blocks like a rocket in the 2nd half and were leading by 6 within 10 minutes, ending up winning comfortably by 7.

Yeah, it's a pity, though it's really just one of those things you have to put up with.
There's never a guarantee that every team will have played equal games by the 31st though it's usually the odd bad weather abandonment which skews it.
It is kind of a small flaw in these artificial 'as at 31/12' events, though their presence means we have 5 events ending in the last week for the drama.

It was a bit the same with Spurs last year when you could still have been caught by limpwhacker, if Harry Kane (the good Harry Kane, not this years pale mopey shadow) had scored a somewhat plausible 4 goals against Fulham on the 29th but it got covid-ed off. All part of the game really.
shrapnel's left-field pick of Jamie Vardy looks the most unlucky as he has now been caught by Jota for 2nd and is being denied the games to get back ahead.

I think (pretty standard stuff, so not really advice) is that there's no point doing anything until you have to.
So we at least get to see the conclusion of the handball, possibly another round of football (shame covid is having such an effect there) and a bit of the darts, all before the deadline.
