    raising without stating???

i was playing a holdem tournie the other day and it was down to final 2 tables.. the stacks were pretty big and this hand took about 5mins to be resolved!
player A raises to 3700... player b 3 bets to around 8k... player A then takes his chips out without saying a word a puts in 17-20k. he doesnt say a word at all!! player b says to dealer that he has not stated a raise so it should just be classed as a call.. eventually the floor is called and they agreed on the last raise which was 20k until one of the players on table stated that you must 'state a raise' after hearing this the decision was changed and player A was made to call... the board comes T 9 7 and player B insta chips and player A snaps.. player B has TT for the set and A has Aces.. what is the ruling on this hand? should player A have stated his raise in the first place? Player B later said that he would not have called the re raise had it stood? thanks.. sorry for the player A anf B.. im not in the hand just was at table.. it took a goof 5mins to be cleared up!!

It should have been a raise, chips speak! The only way it could be possibly seen as just a call was if Player A under raised or if he just threw in 1 oversized chip (although i'm not sure here). lol at the TD changing his mind after another player spoke out!

If he's putting more than one chip into the pot, it's a raise.
If he just puts one chip in without saying anything, it's a call.

player bs argument was that he might have been reaching for more chips to get a movement or a tell on him and that his raise should not be allowed! the tyihng is though he took his chips out of the middle of the table, started moving around bigger chips then threw them in.. dealer stated rasie.. and then thats when the drama started!

So did he put 20k in the middle first or not?

yes he did have it in but he did not state his raise and i think the reason the other player had a problem was because he felt he was getting a read and also because he had TT so it gave him another chance.. the 20k WAS in the middle but was not stated as a raise because he just took the chips out and then placed his re raise

Its a raise plain and simple. From what you said he put in a stack of chips(equalling about 20K) thats enough for a raise and therefore is a raise.

The TD should never be allowed run a game again if he's gonna change a decision he has already made because another player pipes up to disagree.

100% a raise, whatever TD declared it wasn't is taking the piss

The ONLY way this is a call is if he put in a single 20k chip, regardless of taking the 3.7k back or not.
In all other situations it's a raise, regardless of "stating a raise". The whole getting a read argument is retarded, as he go is not over.

sounds like a terrible game, lol at the TD changing his ruling after some insight from a player at the table. Where was this game, please say a pub.

Terrible decision. The TD need to be shown this thread so that at the very least he go's and learns the rules of the game he is looking after.

Its a raise all day long, unless he flings out a single chip.

                          There's your problem.

Instead of a goof clearing it up, you needed someone who knew what they were doing.
