Live sit n gos (STTs) in Ireland?

Don't know where to put this but leaving it here...

Live sit and his, Why don't we have these yet?.. (from what I've seen)

It's either cash or tournaments, which involves a large cash or time investment. I think it would suit perfectly if casinos or clubs offered these, may even get more people out playing

I'd imagine the reason is purely cost. It ties up a dealer for a significant amount of time for minimal return. MTTs are a much more efficient use of staff as you are always adjusting to have full tables (and therefore least no. of dealers). And some MTTs are scraping by in profitability as it is. Some are probably even run as loss leaders.

That may be the case mellor,

My thinking on the whole thing is, you'd probably increase volume as more would take place, assuming you have a turbo format, blinds up every orbit or up when a player gets ko'ed. You may also attract a passing tournament player, who would rather not play cash. Most dealers are on minimum anyway. So an 18 + 2 buyin at a 10 seat table would cover a dealer for 2hrs approx.

I think your missing some key points here. The reason people play sit and goes online is with high volume you can be a winning player in this format. It's not a worthwhile venture to play 1 table live for 2hrs. The structure would be so shallow that's it's going to be a crapshoot. You suggest 18 + 2 structure. If this got 10 runners and lasts for 2hrs it's a loss leader for anyone running an event. There no reason why any organisers would run it and the structure would be so poor that i can't see it being popular with players either.

Yeah logistically it only works if there are a lot of possible players nearby. It could work at something like the Irish Open (with a higher buyin)

Increasing volume doesn't change profitability as the costs increase in tandem.

Take your 18+2 example. If it's lasts 2 hours, you've covered the dealer but there's no profit made. And I'd be surprised if a 10 seater STT averaged 2 hours, most likely you'd be making a loss.
To be profitable, it would need to be €100 buy-ins at the irish open.

One way to make STT profitable would be to make it a "Beat the clock" format.
$20-40 buy-in, But it only runs for a say an hour. At the end of the hour, money is paid out accordingly to stack size. Lots of work logistically, but controllable in terms of costs

The issue is one of profitability for sure 10 players playing a Sitngo will at best break even however i always liked playing them and i think it might be possible to make them work if the format was say
              10 players
1 prelim round of all in or fold 2 chips (1 orbit )
after the Prelim round all players surviving get 5k plus 1k for every chip the accumulated in the prelim round.
              Eg.
6 players left after prelim with 20 chips
chip leader with 7 chips starts on 12k
              2nd 5 chips 10k
              4 players with 2 chips 7k

              what you think ?
