Okay I'm unsure about this hand.

Decision point number 1. Is this a call preflop? We're getting 7.5/1 so we need 12% equity to call. We can lose a lot of this equity this out of position and/or multiway, so can we still defend?

Decision point number 2. On the flop what action should we take?
C/c any bet( as long as anyone else doesnt call in between).
    C/F
    C/ jam
    Open Jam.

My rationale of jamming the flop is that there's quite a low stack to pot ratio here. There's 17.2k in the middle here before we act. By jamming (we allow others to play perfectly yes) but a) we realise all of our equity b) we can deny equity ( from random higher flush cards((Jx,Tx etc. )) /overcards/gutshots/ random pairs etc.)

I'm sort of torn whether it's too much to jam in this scenario or not.

((I'm also wondering what we would do with other parts of our range. Like something Q5o no heart . Is it preferable to call a bet with our hand, with the heart and open jam something like Q5o no heart? ))

Has the fact there are about 5 mins left in Day 1 clouded your judgement (i.e had you set yourself any target of a stacksize to bring to Killarney for Day 2 due to travel etc?)

Nope, I didn't really set a pre ordained stack size that I wanted to go through with or anything. Nor is it a case that I want to fire multiple bullets in an attempt to run up a big stack or anything like that.

I'm kind of looking at the SPR and attempting to realize all of our equity(at the possible expense of our tournament life). ** I do realize that we could be stone dead and/or drawing slim. We're not going to have that much fold equity as well**

Needing just 12% to defend I think we're going to have to defend this pf a lot at varying stack sizes. I think there's merit in open jamming the aforementioned reasons, My main query at what sort of stack size would people open jam this particular hand on this texture. (2kbb / 17.2k in the middle).

With this action pre should we (( could we)) open jam <35k and possibly check/call one street with our stack size?

Interesting hand. 4 ways I don't think you need need to stack off on this board, I'd check and see what happens. If the spr was lower or it was hu then I'd like the shove.

          Some interesting equity sims:
          Code:
          board: 8h 9h qs
          Hand	Equity	Wins	Ties
          Qd 5h	26.36%	155,895	5,356
          20%	23.51%	134,302	14,492
          18%	24.70%	140,988	15,400
          15%	25.43%	145,800	14,520
You are barely an equity favourite on this board

          Preflop is pretty close

          Code:
          Qs 5c	14.84%	86,323	6,386
          20%	27.23%	155,200	17,802
          18%	28.01%	159,658	18,228
          15%	29.92%	171,053	18,322

If I understand correctly, there is a Golden Chip promotion in play for this hand. If you qualify to play Day 2 from the online sats, you win a 10k package for making the overall FT. For some people, (ie Pros/Over-rolled), it would make a big difference in terms of how they approach this hand.
