    Mod for Tourny Section of IPB

    Hi

    Is there any chance we can have a mod for the Tourny section of IPB, It's becoming quiet tilting with all these random threads opening up for weekly games when they should be just posting up a schedule. It's just a pretty big section that if left unmaintained just goes into a mess!! Just a suggestion

          Just on this, there's no need for them to start 5 new threads every week detailing their games from Wed-Sun. They should just bump that days thread instead of keep starting new ones. They've started 50 threads on IPB and bar the funky one where people were getting barred for drinking on the break, there's been no posts in 39 of them. The other threads just contain StarCasino posting, the odd post from TylerD cracking the whip and maybe 2-3 genuine posts.

          The Live Tournament section has always been a bit messy and i know the lads keep looking at it and they will be open to any suggestions anyone has to help improve it

            Sticky 8 threads (Mon-Sun & Monthlys)
            Allow a month for Organisers to put an IPB link for their games in each thread.
            Pull all links into one post with Organisers names included, delete other posts & lock thread.
            Info can be changed by PM to mod if needed.

            Or something like that - gives an easy reference for all users who want to check a game on a particular night.

              Firstly apologies all for the threads popping up again this morning

              I had previously dealt with this with the promoter and advised they could have a thread to cover all weekly games which could be bumped each week.

              Today I find a thread for each game is back and a PM telling me that they will bump each thread each week! Not on and as a result the club have been banned from posting in the forum for 2 weeks.

              Obviously this kind of thing isnt on and there shouldnt even need to be any debate on it. Clubs may have a single thread for their weekly games which may be bumped. A seperate thread for any Monthly games or big live sats is also okay.

                  The mobs should also request a list of runners & prizes from the previous weeks game if the organiser is bumping that days thread. i.e.
                  26 Players in for this last week , total prize pool €650

                  1.????????? €300+ €75 Progressive Jackpot
                  2.????????? €200
                  3.????????? €100
                  4.????????? €50

                    +1 to this but,

                    Each section should be used ie. dublin lenister munster etc, all of these threads should be sticked in the above section, with links to the actual game threads (i.e there is no need for structure and blinds etc in these threads) I also think it would be a great way of driving value for the game as you will see all games for given night in the same thread. Also the game threads should be updated with number of runners prizepool etc dont think they need to give name's of winners as this was discussed on the old place and i think it was a bad idea


                    Also the Festival clendar should be done, with the advance's in google claendar there should be no problem to create this now and leave open to view for the public

                    Another thing that should be done is if we can create label's for tournies like we had in the theroy section of boards ie €50 /€270 game


                    I think the main page of the tourny section should be reserved for paying clients, ie if boyle's are giving advertising revenue to the site they should have there thread here, obv linked from the festival calendar etc


                    I have a couple of other suggestions as well will post them up later when i have time

                        I actually had thread outlined and ready to post when the site crashed, I wanted to make some suggestions to the lads about the live tournie section and hopefully something can come of it.

                        What I was thinking or proposing is like a monthly thread for tournies where they can bump and advertise all their games in the one thread instead of having individual threads for the same game week in week out.

                        Example "October Tournaments at XYZ" something along those lines and the same for advertising of cash games.

                          i honestly think it would be better for punter's if all clubs in a certain area posted there monday game's in the same thread that is locked.

                          this way you can see who is charging what reg self deal or not etc. I honestly think that what is needed is a thread with all these suggestions and a mod to implentent it and maybe a part time mod to police it

                            There is a thread like that and to be honest it does get looked over and forgotten about from time to time and becomes irrelevant when clubs come and go and change games, if you have one thread for one club to advertise month to month that way you get better info on whats what as its all current.

                              I am in favour of promoters posting prizepool results and especially festival prizepools and maybe something I would like to see included in the charter maybe.

                              As for posting of names I'm a little indifferent on that especially if its just for random nights game but I know that The Jackpot post names etc I suppose if you don't want your name posted you can ask the club to leave you off the list.

                                I also suggested before that as apart of the charter they should have to fill in the Calendar with a link to the thread.

                                It would be a handier way to see whats on.

                                EDIT just created a test and it shows up at the bottom of the IPB homepage.

                                  I suppose leave of the names but put up the amounts for 1st to whatever so that people can see how the prize pool is broken out and how many places where paid.

                                      the reason i think there should be a part time mod for this place is to keep it up to date and the reason it i feel that the regional sub forum's didn't work was because it wasn't policed hard enough, great idea just no follow through... The way it is whoever bumps there thread the most get to the front page and u end up with people creating extra accounts to keep bumping threads

                                      If you have lets say a Monday Dublin thread you would have max 15/20 posts from all operators they could put a disclamier in the post asking them to check the game thread (link can be put into the post) for update start times venue infromation etc..

                                        Yeah that's the thread some of those clubs aren't even around anymore.

                                        Those regional sections never really worked as there was too much to try and keep on top of as you would have more promoters from Dublin than most other spots so the likes of the Ulster one was nearly always empty so I don't think a Monday Dublin thread would be of much use, people found it hard to navigate around them.

                                        It was a good idea in theory but the practical side of it just never worked out.

                                            something has to be taught up though guy's i've been around boards and IPB for the last three years and i can barley find what i'm looking for, i can just imange how hard it is for Mr. Joe Soap to find a game in it! which can have an affect on numbers using the site, also when we have such great bloggin threads drawing people into this section of IPB, it would also be nice to have it looking well!

                                              This is such a fast changing area with new operators, new games, new posters on behalf of clubs, that there would be a massive amount of admin work in this to keep it up to date, never mind chasing people up to correct things, instruct them how to do it properly, then someone else starts posting in their behalf, and go through it all again. One thing that can be done easily is to have a thread prefix added for the start day of the event, not in the festivals subforum though. THis could look something like:

                                              Monday
                                              Tuesday
                                              Wednesday
                                              Thursday
                                              Friday
                                              Saturday
                                              Sunday
                                              Twice Weekly
                                              Monthly
                                              Daily
                                              Weekly Schedule
                                              Cash Schedule

                                              and possibly an 'Other' option. This would allow people to filter by the day. However, this might lead to spamming of each days event like we had that caused this thread in the first place. Maybe we could have it like the above, but certain operators only allowed to create Weekly Schedule events.

                                              It's all well and good saying 'tell them to put it in the calendar' or 'post results', but with the sheer amount of threads, this quickly turns into either a big job for someone, or a place where a lot of clubs/operators are banned for not adhering to everything. I'm all for having rules and guidelines, but the rules should not be 100% inflexible or else the system will grind to a halt.

                                                ^^^^ agreed dom any chance of adding an area filter such as dublin/cork/galway of a dublin/leinster/ulster etc filter, this would combat the need for subform's but make it easy for people to search a particular area!


                                                Also Dom at some point u guys have to bite the bullet and take on people to help u run the site - part time mod's these could be given smaller area's and be answerable to a main site mod if one or two people keep any eye on it they can maintain it easier than someone looking at it every couple of days!

                                                  Maybe thats a bit difficult to do I dont know.

                                                  If the password gets passed around in said club there is only the pkr mgr to blame.

                                                      Any way you could just have a template that must be filled in before they post, like the way you can't send a PM without the title - you could post in the tournament section without all the details in the charter.
