    Under Raise Question

Hi, question on a situation that happened last night at a pub game.

    Player A (SB) 200
    Player B (BB) 400
    Player C - fold
    Player D - All in for 500
    Players E & F - fold

Player A asks if he can just call the 500 or does he have to put in 800 as the 500 was more than the BB, player E says he can call the 500 as it was an under raise but the rest of the table disagreed.

In a No Limit game then yes, the 500 alone can be called without having to put in 800. Not sure on limit holdem.

Actually I'm not sure that's right, think some places you would have to make it 800.

The min raise player a could make is by 400 to 800, the min call is of 500.

Player A can call the 500 if he/she wants.

If using TDA rules, if player A wants to raise, the minimum raise is to 900, 500+400 (the largest bet/raise of the current round).
