Cursor problems - why does it look like this sometimes?

    Image attached

Once it goes like this, I cant figure out how to turn it back. It makes clicking on stuff difficult, and it looks very annoying
Cant figure out why it happens ; its only happened maybe 4-5 times in 2 months, but it happened twice today. Not sure what causes it, nothing springs to mind

ONly way I can find to fix it is to restart

    Thanks

Thats what happens when mouse 5 is pressed (or the button between left and right click)

I dont have any such button, pressing any of the buttons in the middle of my mouse doesnt cause it now

Do you have a mouse wheel? If so what does clicking that do?

            Windows 7 yeah

Mouse Wheel Button does nothing unless its in a scrollable window in which case it lets me scroll and turns into the scroll cursor, but immeditaely goes back to normal when I click it again
