Three players all in. Who finishes where?

I'd appreciate it someone could settle this one for me.

3 players left in a tournament, blinds at 600/1200

Player A has approx 40,000 and is on the button with A-A
Player B has 500 and is all in on the SB with 10-7
Player C has approx 50,000 and is in the BB with 8-8

All players end up all in on a board of 10, 8, 7, X, X

Player C has both players covered and obviously finishes first with a set of 8's
Player B has 2 pairs but cannot cover player A who only has 1 pair

Out of players A & B, who finishes second and who finishes third here.

    A second had more chips.

If player C has both A & B cover and knocked out it goes by how much chips they had when knocked out not what hand they had so in this case

      1st C
2nd A (because he has more chips that B going into the hand)
      3rd B

It's always irrelevant what the hands are, it's all about who had most chips before the hand is played out.

I was confident I knew the answer here but I just wanted to be sure I was right and it looks like I was. Thanks.
