    Poker in Vienna

Few poker players in our group heading to the Ireland game in November so hopefully play a tournament on the Thursday night. Seems to be a lively enough poker scene there, anyone played there and any recommendations or suggestions?

Mayo's longest running and most successful pub poker league. Teach O'Hora, Kiltimagh every Wednesday night, entry €20. Re-entry €20.

    Montesino Casino

Not far from City Centre. They host a lot of events and cash action is pretty good. Not sure if there's anything on while you're there but definitely worth looking it up if you want to play poker. I'm sure they have a regular schedule for local players.

Be aware that smoking is allowed at the cash tables and there is virtually no ventilation.

You will be reminded every 30 mins or so by pre recorded message that tipping every hand is expected .

The dealers actually pay the house for the privilege of dealing so large tips are expected.

There is another casino on the edge of town somewhere that doesn't allow smoking at the tables but does in the bar area. Alcohol is a lot cheaper in this one (hence not remembering the name of it).

You will need passports to register at both.

That seems highly exploitative to the dealers. And reminder seems like it's almost to arouse irritation from the players towards the dealers etc. Bit manipulative. Maybe find somewhere else.

I only played there once and was surprised when talking to one of the dealers that he told me they pay the house €14 per hour to deal there. I seen a few times where the button/HJ stole the 1/2 blinds and tipped the dealer €3.
The action is plentiful and very loose, I don't mind people smoking but when you can't see seat 8 from seat 2 it was time to give up.
