Hi played in a small 1-2 cash game last night and was the only sober one at the table. Started off with 6 inc 2 polish lads one of whom was pretty full.a couple of situations arose that any experts out there might clarify.
I'm in the the big blind drunk polish guy small, 4 callers around to me Ah 9h, I raise to 11 hoping to take the 10 euro folded around to small blind who calls.
Flop Jh Jc 7h , small bets 14 saying " I have jack now go away" . I flat call and turn is Js. He bets 35 " . I call. Ace of spades on river he laughs and goes all in covering my 60 euro. I call turning over my house he shows jack two. I say well done but you know in a lot of clubs your hand would be dead for declaring your hand on the flop. Dealer jumps in and tells him he did not hear the declaration but if he had would have given me the pot . I say well done to him again and say I didn't want the pot was just making a comment about what I had heard before about u can tell lies about your hand but not the truth blah blah blah. He said to dealer " I asked you were there any special rules in smoking room" . Dealer says I told you we play normal rules and would clarify any other issues as they arose, so I am telling you don't do it again".He continues to sporadically bring it up with me and dealer over next few hands.
10 min later on a jack ten 5 flop, a lad bets and he calls saying "ok I have jack you have ten. Play develops and with about 250 in the pot he turns over a jack and other lad has a ten. Dealer awards pot to lad with ten , a bit of uproar follows with everyone sticking their 2 cents in, some for some against with even his friend who does not seem to have much english( relevant later) saying " why you speak".again it rumbles on for a while with dealer / drunk lads/ polish friend.
Later a few more drunks arrive from the night club and one in particular takes issue with the 2 lads talking in polish in between hands. Really drunk polish lad says he is being racist. Irish lad says no I don't know what your saying you could be telling him what you had in last hand which isn't fair to rest of table or discussing what you are doing in next hand. Polish lad says his friend has very little English so he can't have conversation with him in English, this looks like developing into a row so I bring polish lad to smoking room to calm him down and for peace sake try to get him to see other lads point of view, " I think he would have same problem if they were speaking Spanish/ Irish/ Chinese .(not sure I 100% believe that myself).anyway I went back to table pushed my 80 euro on with nut flush draw on ace high flop to take 60 in the pot. Get called by pair of 2s and head for the door so don't know what happened after that.
Any opinions on language / declaration issues?
