    Cash game rules

Hi played in a small 1-2 cash game last night and was the only sober one at the table. Started off with 6 inc 2 polish lads one of whom was pretty full.a couple of situations arose that any experts out there might clarify.
I'm in the the big blind drunk polish guy small, 4 callers around to me Ah 9h, I raise to 11 hoping to take the 10 euro folded around to small blind who calls.
Flop Jh Jc 7h , small bets 14 saying " I have jack now go away" . I flat call and turn is Js. He bets 35 " . I call. Ace of spades on river he laughs and goes all in covering my 60 euro. I call turning over my house he shows jack two. I say well done but you know in a lot of clubs your hand would be dead for declaring your hand on the flop. Dealer jumps in and tells him he did not hear the declaration but if he had would have given me the pot . I say well done to him again and say I didn't want the pot was just making a comment about what I had heard before about u can tell lies about your hand but not the truth blah blah blah. He said to dealer " I asked you were there any special rules in smoking room" . Dealer says I told you we play normal rules and would clarify any other issues as they arose, so I am telling you don't do it again".He continues to sporadically bring it up with me and dealer over next few hands.
10 min later on a jack ten 5 flop, a lad bets and he calls saying "ok I have jack you have ten. Play develops and with about 250 in the pot he turns over a jack and other lad has a ten. Dealer awards pot to lad with ten , a bit of uproar follows with everyone sticking their 2 cents in, some for some against with even his friend who does not seem to have much english( relevant later) saying " why you speak".again it rumbles on for a while with dealer / drunk lads/ polish friend.
Later a few more drunks arrive from the night club and one in particular takes issue with the 2 lads talking in polish in between hands. Really drunk polish lad says he is being racist. Irish lad says no I don't know what your saying you could be telling him what you had in last hand which isn't fair to rest of table or discussing what you are doing in next hand. Polish lad says his friend has very little English so he can't have conversation with him in English, this looks like developing into a row so I bring polish lad to smoking room to calm him down and for peace sake try to get him to see other lads point of view, " I think he would have same problem if they were speaking Spanish/ Irish/ Chinese .(not sure I 100% believe that myself).anyway I went back to table pushed my 80 euro on with nut flush draw on ace high flop to take 60 in the pot. Get called by pair of 2s and head for the door so don't know what happened after that.
Any opinions on language / declaration issues?

      Hard to read this.

I'm not expert but IMO no one declared their hand i.e. I have ace jack - saying you have a jack is different.

The two lads speaking Polish shouldn't be allowed. But with the amount of time I'm guessing the whole thing took - it would probably be easier just to join a different table.

Bringing lads for smokes to explain things to them when their off their head and your there to take their money. Why bother?

Sorry for no paragraphs, written under duress from screaming 3 year old.
I took him from the table to stop the row developing into an all out brawl and the game being stopped anyway. He already felt he was being picked on because he was polish and I thought it would give the dealer a chance to calm the table.

English only should be spoken in hands as for the rest seem to be out of control was there no floor to control this sounds like something out of the wild west

I always understood it as a full hand declaration rather than claiming one card but I could be wrong

                1stly,

if the rule is inplace that his hand is dead then it should be killed at the first instance, not after 2 streets of play. in this example it is you who are in the wrong. decisions need to be made at the correct time, you cant choose to ignore a rule and then insist his hand is dead cos it didnt go your way.

                2ndly
no his hand is not dead.

since if he declares his cards (truthfully or otherwise) he is only putting him self at disadvantage. It is up to you if you believe him or not.

when players are stupid enough to try to play poker like this, they usually give more info away then they realise. dont try to kill their hands by a vague interpretation of a often misquoted rule, use it to your advantage and beat them with their own stupidity.

I didn't ask for his hand to be dead. I gracefully accepted defeat and just informed him that I had heard this rule quoted before. The dealer then advised it would be dead if he did it again.
When he did it again, would it not be impossible for the dealer to declare his hand dead until it was proved at showdown that he declared his actual hand?

Agree with you I was just looking for clarification of the rule
