Basically anything you can think is a prerequisite for passing the Turing test.
But most of the domain specific stuff is just basic automation, regular old programming. Yes we will now get into the realm of semantics but I’d argue that AI “changing everything” right now is really just a more broad usage of commoditized regular programming. AlphaGo might be an awesome new approach but it’s still a computer playing a game.

We had that years ago. Maybe I’m being reductive and unfair.

We are miles away from the broader definition you outlined. We are likely even miles away from having enough data to even begin to understand how far away we are.

Maybe I’m a pessimist but I take my opinion from being fairly familiar with the practical uses of NLP, a good familiar of bidaf and Allen Institute stuff( and from a strictly “how can this solve real world problems” perspective and it’s... miles away.

Most marketing and sales has an algorithm based element to improve outcomes. Nearly all financial markets and banks and therefore firm financing is based on machine learning based classification of default risks.

There's an argument about whether this is machine learning or AI. But not convinced the difference is all that important for practical purposes.

Next step then is AI-driven product and service design and optimisation of supply chains. That's pretty much every firm function AI-enabled.
Ya fair but it’s not even machine learning and it’s just playing ol algorithms. Like fine that an algo can calc a score for something with a bunch of variables but we are miles away from having the machine infer.

Although perhaps language comprehension is an unfair starting point for wow.

As the PhD Computer whiz kid I work with told me, if we get there it’s basically the singularity.

The solution is actually quite simple, you just express the probabilities in terms of each other and then solve the quadratic equation. I was making it out to be way more complicated than it really was.

It's all very interesting one thing about AI/Robitics is that if you think about it's place in sci-fi and even science to a degree the elements which were envisaged to be cracked first are the total opposite to those which have been accomplished.

Many felt that ability in strategy games, creativity and language would the elements that would be the last to fall but it's actually been things such as the physical factors like movement for example.

The most advanced humanoid type robots are so far from what was expected that anyone 50 years ago not named Turing would laugh.

The crux many see AGI having is whether consciousness needs to be a part of the puzzle or not and what magic is involved in reaching it if needed.

If it's a simple case of processing power, you reach x and the lights come on, download the knowledge with all the extra storage then we'll get there because brain mapping has come along quite a lot, synpases/neurons can be replicated now, it's only a matter of time before a human brain is entirely replicated.
Again it's not yet known if some other organic elements are involved.

It's interesting and no one knows whether it's quantum computing, DNA storage (215m terabytes of data per gram) or whatever else but major breakthroughs are likely in our generation.

Yeah the movement thing is really interesting to ponder.

We are designing robots to move the way we find their movement useful. Not the way we move.

If there is an intelligent designer and he/she thinks lol us... how is our movement useful for him/her.

Many believed an algorithm would transcend humanity with cognitive awareness. Machines would discern and learn tasks without human intervention and replace workers in droves. They quite literally would be able to “think”. Many people even raised the question whether we could have robots for spouses.

Each AI Winter is preceded with scientists exaggerating and hyping the potential of their creations. It is not enough to say their algorithm can do one task well. They want it to ambitiously adapt to any task, or at least give the impression it can. For instance, AlphaZero makes a better chess playing algorithm. Media’s reaction is “Oh my gosh, general AI is here. Everybody run for cover! The robots are coming!” Then the scientists do not bother correcting them and actually encourage it using clever choices of words. Tempering expectations does not help VC funding after all.

Just on the Fitz thing and a poker club not being a profitable model, without casino games.

What about a full bar in a poker club?

Most restaurants would be break even if it wasn't for alcohol sales. Would this not work for a poker club?

I remember being in the Grosvenor in Luton years and years ago. But the bar inside it was hopping. It was during a festival in fairness and maybe it was dead most other nights.

Personally I don't drink when I play poker, but if I bust and there's a bar I certainly wouldn't be shy of dropping 30 quid in one before i go home.

So what will come of the Fitz - more than likely turn into some hipster bar/restaurant now.

The difference in execution is fucking startling.

How to cross the road . Place is bonkers. Some seriously good nightclubs though and food is excellent.

Now chilling in Nha Trang... Really don't get the hate for it. Great beaches and nice change of pace after ho chi Minh. Sometimes a guy just wanna relax and you can't do that in Ho Chi Minh. Gotta find a roasted duck though, dying to eat one
