missed out on dead button ruling pls

    home tournament last night.
    small blind knocked out.
should have been dead button next hand but the big blind picked up cards and dealt.
Only realized what had happened when hand over.

    Discussion started:
1.should the hand be replayed trying to work out who put what into the pot.
    2. carry on as if nothing happened.
    3. leave hand as it was ,deal the dead blind and then jump past to where the deal should then go to.

We did the latter but a good discussion on it.

Hand is over. Can't go back

On a side-note if you realised during the hand it can only be a mis-deal if there has not been substantial action

" Substantial Action is either: A) any two actions in turn, at least one of which puts chips in the pot (i.e. any 2 actions except 2 checks or 2 folds); OR B) any combination of three actions in turn (check, bet, raise, call, or fold". So if you dealt the cards and 3 people folded or 1 guy raised and and another folded the hand has to be played.
