Early bird chips in a re entry toruney

If a player re enters within the timeframe for early bird chips, are they entitled to one as technically they are being treated as a new player?

I would say yes, I don't see why not. I'm not really a fan of early bird chips in general though.

Well it runs contrary to the spirit of the TDA rules if not the letter (Alternates, players registering late, and re-entries will be sold full stacks), and while I can see the benefits for the casino, its going to put off a lot of people who can't make it on time but don't want to play with less chips than everyone else. It will never encourage more players to play the tournament, but it will put players off, so it has to be a net loss.

It's there to encourage people to be there on time. Which doesn't actually benefit anyone that I can see.

It would encourage me, not so much for the actual chips but I would see it as a positive indication that the tournament will actually start at the appointed time and will be ran efficiently.
