One of the good things about the casinos not getting involved, the Irish etc normally take 1st place money as far as the standings go, the US players get a receipt showing they won less than they usually do. As far as I know there is one Irish person banned from Vegas casinos for collecting peoples prizemoney for a small % for similar tax reasons.

..Very unlikely, but is it possible to find updates/regular updates on the deepstack in the venetian?...My good mate James Waldron is deep in it, think 13 or 14 left...46k 1st prize..

Highly doubtful, best bet is to send him a message and ask him for regular updates.

Got a nice chuckle out of this, about 2,400 people in Event 60 smoothcall & GAB get drawn at the same table, table breaks and both go to a new table, smoothcall table breaks and he gets moved into the left of GAB a the new table

Ended up on this rail from 4 out yesterday as I'm staying with one of perrins` friends. Great atmosphere with every hero in UK poker there. Great laugh there and Arthur pro played his part doing a shoe bomb before the heads up!

Finishing 12th or so in 2006 the year Jamie Gold won for over a milly John would seem to know his way around the main event, nice way to finish up for him best of luck.

The most exciting moment of the day came in Level 5 when five players ended up all-in preflop in the same hand. After the under-the-gun player raised to 1,100, a middle-position player moved all in for 11,700. Right behind the shove, Mac Sohrabi was in the hijack seat and reraised all in for 23,100. Then, the player on the button called all in for 16,550 before action slid over to Yurel Eminoglu in the big blind. Eminoglu tanked long enough to have two players call the clock on him, and he eventually moved all in as well. Action then fell back on the original raiser, who snap-called, and hands were revealed.

                                                                            Under-the-gun player: {4-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}

Eminogla scooped a side pot from the player who held the {4-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} and moved to 150,300 in chips. The other three players were eliminated.

"See, now I called there, I just called," the player told his latest victim. "That means I might've had a flush draw, but you didn't notice."

With more than 45,000 during the first level of play, the player had plenty of reason to feel confident, and he regaled the table with stories of his strategic prowess.

"Now, I have my reasons for everything I do," the player continued, after opening for a large raise before the flop that many players would not consider to be standard operating procedure. "The number of limpers, my position, who's left to act behind me... there's a lot of factors behind my moves. It's something like a Rubik's cube."

Steve Zolotow, a noted tactician on the felt who has cashed dozens of times at the WSOP, winning two gold bracelets in his long and storied tournament career, decided to join the lively conversation, telling the player not to reveal too much so early in such an important event.

"Don't give away your strategy now," said Zolotow with a sinner's smile spreading across his face. "Just keep on doing what you're doing... it's working."

With the pit now dug and a thatch of fresh leaves laid over his trap, Zolotow returned his focus to the game at hand, and a few hours passed by without incident.

That is, of course, until Zolotow found the perfect opportunity to double through his mark. With the flop of 3 5 2 arranged neatly across the felt, and a bet already in front of the amateur opponent, Zolotow raised it up to 6,500 and stared silently into the ether.

"How much do you have left there?," said the player to the pro, before suddenly shoving his stack forward for an all-in move.

He soon found out that Zolotow had precisely 32,050 in his stack, as the experienced tournament player and veteran of the famed Mayfair Club in New York City snapped him off with 3 3 for a flopped set.

The once confident player could do nothing but turn over A Q in shock, his Rubik's cube suddenly a jumble of discordant colors. When the turn (J) and river (A) failed to deliver a face saving four, Zolotow secured a well deserved double, the predator having laid a trap hours earlier before waiting patiently to ambush his prey.
Earlier in the day we encountered a fairly common sight on the first day of a World Series of Poker tournament: a lively player with a larger stack than he started with, beginning to table talk as if the tournament...

Well Tom Dwan has 16,175 and Gus Hansen has about the same because they decided to stay playing OFC for $3k a point instead. I saw a tweet of Gus winning a $135k hand at one stage.
