Was in the green isle last night so just watched a recording of the huybrects Van gerwan game. Unbelievable standard, van gerwan was just getting a bit of momentum aswell when huybrects took out the 108 n followe up with the 9 darter.

To their credit the PDC are always happy to have tournaments with different formats, legs or sets, double in, groups instead of knockouts etc.

I'd like a tournament with two oches, two boards and two scorecallers on the stage - when the ref says 'game on' at the start of a leg then both players immediately start, one on each board. The winner of a leg is the player who gets the double first regardless of the amount of darts thrown.

Whilst its a disadvantage for the slowest players (fuck 'em) it wouldn't necessarily favour the fastest players. Would arguably favour players of reasonable speed who are best able to analyze a situation and those who can do dart maths in their head without needing to pause to ask the referee.

Could be an excellent spectacle imo.

Van Der Voort would smash it every time.

King playing well here but Bunting not at his best.

Think that is just too much of a disadvantage to the slower players and would increase the edge of MVG by a big margin. The likes of Lewis, Bunting, VDV and a few others would be ok, but most of the field would be off their game. Winstanley wouldn't get a look in because he can't count at normal speed, nevermind at fast speed!

I've always thought that a game with 2 oches and 2 scorers separated by a partition, where you don't know what your opponent scores would be a interesting idea. The 'scorer' would key in the score, and it would all by done on a big screen the player could see it, but not the opponent. The audience participation would give ideas to your opponents play, but you'll never know if he's on a 16 finish or 195 when you're taking out your own 3 dart finish.

King punishing Bunting here, but it helps that Bunting can't hit a double.

I wonder, he seems to put in a lot of 17/18 dart legs, a slightly slower player who could consistently go out in 14/15 would still be favoured I think. His speed would definitely help him narrow the gap though. Would be good to have an event that favoured a different set of players.

I want to see this anyway, in glorious splitscreen with maniacal commentary.
And slowmo replays to see who got the dart in first when both players get a double at the same time.
Will write to Barry Hearn about it.

Would prefer if they encouraged more soft tip darts in Europe and had a few tournaments.

Playing the soft tip format on steel tip boards would be brilliant. Lengthen the games slightly maybe.

I've always hated Michael Smith, but there's no coming back from it now. Disgraceful performance against Taylor and pretty sure any lingering hopes he had of getting a spot in the Premier League are gone now. He was beaten after the 1st leg, and just didn't give a fuck. He played like a cunt.

Chizzy has just robbed me for a second time to have a decent sweat on the final. Every time i back him, he bottles it, and when i have 2 big horses running against him, he pulls it out of the bag

Still profit if King can somehow muster a couple of wins, but i'm guessing that's very unlikely!

Ya never know. King playing carefree and certainly won't be worried about playing Taylor. Has found his form, literally anything can happen except King spanking Taylor.

The Worlds is shaping up to be the best ever so will obv be crap with Taylor pissing his way to the title.

So checked and yep they've moved it all back by a few days - only one round pre Christmas and instead of the final on New Years Day they'll only be at quarter final stage when they come back on NYD. Plenty of double sessions from the 27th on which is good.

Not a big deal, though was always good having it starting on the 11th or 12th, the official start of Xmas.

I'm still going with this lot for the first round.

Also had a speculative punt on Rodriguez to beat Barney @ 9/2 and stuck it in a patent with Hopp to beat King at 5/1, and Sul to beat Smith at 7/2 just because they are a little overpriced imo.

For the outright i'm opposing MVG and Taylor, not because i don't think either will win it, but i've just been sucked in by the bigger prices on some of the other guys. Best way forward is to back someone from the 2 opposing quarters other than the Big 2 so you're looking at Anderson/Wright from Q2 and Wade/Bunting and Lewis from Q4.

Not crazy on Wright's ability to take it out, and Anderson has come into some great form of late and his odds have been slashed over the last month so not sure there's value if you're only getting on now, but i'm hoping that one of the Dutch pairing of Klassen/Kist can come through that quarter, and I still harbour some hope for Van de Pas in MVG's quarter, although Jenks can always put it up to MVG so having a little on him at 150/1 has to be a no brainer, if even just to lay it off.

It's a nightmare than Bunting (30/1) will meet Wade (20/1) in Round 2 because i like both of them, and have backed both and Bunting now 31/1 on Betfair (worth a few quid of anyone's money) but that won't be there if he gets past Wade obv. They're the best picks for Q4 but one of the youngsters of Brown or Rodriguez could shock in the QFs if either gets that far.

Taylor ran pretty good with the draw, but i'm backing Kim Huybrechts to get through that quarter and a little on Winstanley just incase he fulfils his potential (although i wouldn't put anyone off backing Deano to lose in the first round tbh). Hard to see anyone else from that quarter making a case.

Overall, i've backed a ton of guys with the purpose of laying them off in later rounds and an MVG or Taylor winner would be really bad news for me, but this way just gives me so much interest in every single game. The winner of the Bunting/Wade game, Lewis and Huybrechts being my main guys, with Klassen being my biggest outsider if i was to let it ride, just because i couldn't say no to the 900/1, and if he gets past Kist and Anderson has an off day, then i'll be quids in either way.

I haven't watched much darts over the last 6 months though because i've been busy, so i still think that Kev/Fink/CHD will all know better than me.

I'd probably rather back MVG to win 3-1 at 11/4 than back him +2.5 at 6/4, because it will be a helluba shock if he takes any more than 1 set from MVG.
