Sorry about the delay of the full results.

A big thank you to Dom, Lloyd, Kev, Tom, Danny, and Dennis for all the blogging. (I hope I'm not forgetting anyone.)
The lads put in a lot of hours and did a fantastic job!
I'll get a chance to read through them tonight after work, I think.

JP and I would like to thank the players, dealers, floor staff and everyone who helped to make the weekend a success.

We would also like to thank Iain from Irish Poker Rankings for the live stream and Dara for his commentary on the feature table. Thanks to everyone else who had input in the radio show, Rory Browne and Tom Kitt come to mind, but I'm sure there were others.

We hope that everyone enjoyed themselves, I know we did. See you all at the next one!

Hey JP,
Thank you very much and congratulations for putting on such a great weekend. I have to say I couldn't find one thing wrong or anything that I'd change about the whole event. It went off without a hitch, from my point of view anyway.

The atmosphere was electric, the attitude and professionalism of all of your staff was more than perfect. The structures of both of the events I played were fantastic. The venue, food, parking, staff etc where great too.

I'm really looking forward to your mini WSOP now, it can't come soon enough. I know how you feel when your players do well too so it was great to see more than a few finishing well (including your bro' ).
Well done lad, your whole set up is a credit to you.

Regards,
Gordon

JP,

Well done on another great weekend. The positive things about your events remain positive all the time and as expected.

One problem from the weekend though was that for a period the PLO tourney seemed to be neglected. We were left without a TD and twice about 20 minutes apart a table was calling floor repeatedly without anybody seeming to be responsible for it. We started with Toby, we then had to get John from the cash game area to deal with a ruling and then had to later call on Duke to deal with a situation. During this time a table also needed balancing when we were 6 handed on one table and 4 handed on another. The dealer at the 4 handed table had to call the other dealer to send the next BB.

I dont know how this occured, I also know it is not the norm when you are involved but when players pay 12.5% reg for a relatively painless tournament from your perspective it really shouldnt be happening. Maybe im making more of it than i should be but it genuinely tilits the bejaysus out of me when playing.

Noel.

Hi JP,
Once again a top notch performance by you and the team. The structure was probably the best (especially for the money), and most enjoyable, I have ever played.... despite being short stacked for most of it! This hotel is a great place to play poker. I ordered food from the 'poker menu' on day 1 and as we were only 3 hours away from the main break I wanted to order something small. They had 2 pieces of pizza for 5 yo yo's on the list and I thought that would do the trick. The food came out and it was 2 pieces of pizza, chips and a side salad... for a fiver!! Brilliant value and the staff in the hotel were on the ball all weekend.

Cat O'Neill received the worst slow roll of all time. Can remember how the betting went pre the all ins but Cat shoved on the flop (A 2 4.....I think!) with a lad from Navan in the hand with her (just the 2 of them involved in the hand). He sits there looking at her for approx a min and declares 'call'. Cat turns over A 7 and the Navan lad looks up to the sky, shakes his head disgusted, and very slowly turns over AA. Everyone had to look about 3 times to be sure it was AA and I quickly started the 'Thats a horrible slow roll' stuff. Most people were getting into him about it and he did not look too bothered about it. I had talked to the lad for a while during the game and he did not come across like a deliberate arse hole so I asked him did he play much live poker. He said he only played a few pub games and I really believe what he did was mostly in ignorance. Very nicely I explained that there was no need for the 'holywooding' and it was really disrespectful what he did. He was taking on board what I was saying when Sean 'Grizzly Adams' Prendiville (lucky fish....wp) says 'alright lets forget about it and get on with the game'. I just thought it was important to explain to the lad if he was naive about it. Just then Rob 'Mir cat Tilty' Taylor, the aggrieved boyfriend, storms over to the table and gives him the 'Thats fucking disgraceful, you should be fucked out' verbal as he zooms past........... priceless! If somebody says 'my boyfriend is going to kick the shit out of you' (off course Cat would not say that), you don't expect Rob!

Played really badly for much of the tourney and was lucky to cash. Made a raise (5k) late into day 2 with QJ suited. Was reraised all in by a good lad in late possy and eventually called with my remaining 14k. Up against 9's and got lucky. Badly played and also calculated my pot odds wrong (never so bad in the past...ashamed ). I found being so short stacked for such a long time really tough on the body and the mind. blinds 1,500-3,000 and got the chips (30,000) in again, in mid position, with A 10. Snap called by 'Roy the Boy' with AK (horrible call) and was preparing my man bag for the trip home when the lovely Lorraine turns over 10 10 rag! Roy goes into a rant 'this is the worse game in the world' and lots more. Later he has a pop at Donal for giving him (in HIS words) a bad call (Donal raises, Roy ships, Donal thinks about it for a while and calls with his A9 vs roys 55)... GOOD call. Donal misses and it costs him a lot of chips. Donal is feeling pretty shit about losing a chunk of his stack at this stage of the game and then, as he is stacking his just won chips, the boy goes at him again.... "The was a really bad call" . Donal is too much of a gent to give the proper reply.

Got to the last three tables and decided that I was going to give it a go to get into a nice payday. With the payout so top heavy (and as I was still short stacked), 20th or 10th made very little difference to me so I got them in on the turn with top pair and the second nuts flush draw..... The mad Belgian/French fella (which one says you!) only has the cheek to call me with the nuts (straight) and I miss the flush.....all I deserved.

On another matter. The cash games, for the amount of people that was in the hotel playing poker, were dead. Max 2 tables first night and no more than 4 any other. The fab structure, and the top grub, at this event is going insure that people get full value for their reg fee. But if people are not going to the cash tables (not anyone's fault... it's a recession!) how can he BREAK EVEN, don't mind make a profit for the weekend. I am not sure what the take in was ( expecting 250 runners for the main event and had staff there to cover that amount) but I know event costings and if the cash tables wr not busy then he lost money. Irish people have it so good compared to everywhere else in the world when it comes to structures, buyins and 100% payouts. In Vegas you are charged a reg fee AND a percentage is take out "for the dealers" These casinos are packed with cash tables and most of the tourneys are crap shoots. I don't know if you broke even JP, but if you did, I don't know how.

things I did not know until the game last weekend:

Standing beside a guy who cashed nicely at the weekend and did not tip the dealers...... shocking. Are people not tipping anymore? So bad

Liam Flood just gets funnier and funnier... love em!

Have never had much conversation with Dermot Blain in the past (he's too gobby) but what a nice guy. Very down to earth and a true gent.

I really am a bad fish

Hi Noel,

I am sorry that this occurred and I'm not sure how it did.

JP was flying to England tonight which is why he has not responded. I'm sure he will respond in the next day or two.

Thanks,
Christine

When somebody asks for feedback, I take it that they genuinely want feedback. I am not having a go at JP here, I have played his events for a good few years and will do so again in the future. I am just relaying to him what happened, I am sure that he would rather know this and ensure that it doesnt happen than not be told and have things slip by unknown to him.

Damo - tell me where this happened. Be very sure to check your facts before you reply as I would hate to make you look like a bigger gobshite than you already are.
something silly or else i would hav remembered what they were u always seem cross, maybe these were your "off" days

Whether it was needed or not, posts moved to new thread in the rulings section to prevent clogging up this thread.

JP asks for feedback because we genuinely want to hear it, good or bad. With some issues, this being one of them, we wouldn't have known about it, unless you had mentioned it Noel.

I just spoke to him, he has no internet access and is starting work soon, so I'll pass on what he said.

Toby was TD from the Omaha tourney from the start, but when we got more runners for the 150 game than we expected, JP pulled Toby from the Omaha. John Scanlon was then supposed to take over the Omaha game. We can only assume that there must have been a breakdown in communication which caused the tourney to be neglected in such a way.

Again, we are very sorry that this happened, it never should have, and we will do our best to make sure it doesn't happen again.

I'm at the registration desk almost all the time at our events and if anyone is experiencing any problems, please let me know. I would have dealt with it at the time if I had known about it.

However, you shouldn't have to leave your game to say "hey, we need a TD over here" and I completely understand why it tilts you because it would tilt me as well.

Thanks again,
Christine

Thanks Christine - I hope you can understand I was not having a dig at your events here as this is clearly not the case. My only intention was to offer genuine feedback.
