Heading to new York soon, is there any real bargains to be had? In the market for a good coat/jacket, shoes and shirts, only over for a few days, mostly touristy stuff so not going hunting for stuff unless I can make a big saving over what I'd pay here for high quality

I work in the same building as Luxotica.
They sometimes sell off excess stock in the building.
Seeing the mark up versus the cost price would make you never buy glasses in retail again.
In other news, got meself this the other day.
HoF told me at the time, they will alter it for me. Chances of that being bullshit?People say I should be more humble I hope they understand, they don't listen when you mumble

Any recommendations on a wallet?
I like my current one but it is starting to die. Most of the ones I seen so far are terrible.
I don't want a massive bulky wallet. And I dislike tri-fold designs, an internal card flap in a double is acceptable, but I'd rather a compact clever design.
Needs to hold cards, cash and coins.
Space saving is a bonus.

The missus used someone very similar called Ravis Tailors. Hong Kong based with the tailoring done in Thailand. Same tour around Ireland meeting in hotels for measuring up and talking figures for orders. Half payable in advance and half on receipt of the clothes. Talk a great game regarding the amount of US customers they have and how easy it is to refund if not happy. Got absolute rags and spent 6 months getting a refund from MasterCard. They did the refund as an Irish tailor confirmed that they wouldn't even be suitable as a starting point for fitted clothes. Ravis tried to argue that you can send over and back the clothes a few times until they get it right. Would cost quite a lot more and prob take a year to get anywhere near what you wanted in the first place.

Pretty impressed. Went for a nut brown 1.5" one - very much one to wear with jeans. Will go back I'd say for 1.25" ones for work."We are not Europeans. Those people on the continent are freaks."

Does anyone know if they are a regular offering on Groupon? Ideally would prefer to get a test shirt now and then a second round of shirts, but it doesn't look the voucher is valid for long enough to do that now. No details on the buttons, are the first row MOP (doesn't look like it?)Last edited by Denny Crane; 14-02-15, 12:49.

Tailors mark accepted all 4 voucher codes under my account, another €100 or so on top meaning the cost is ~65 per shirt. Compares very well to the off the peg options - obviously need to step up to V level when I get my next bonus.
the €50 voucher is better value than the €25 voucher btw - means you can buy the most expensive short they have and pay nothing on top."We are not Europeans. Those people on the continent are freaks."

Recommendations for bespoke suit for the wedding?
I stupidly gave my details to www.asuitthatfits.com/ie/
and they are harassing me.
Wedding in June so I guess i need to talk to someone soon enough.
Also looking to get a few off the peg suits for Fathers/groomsmen.
under €2k would be where I am aiming for all in. (Hoping to pick up suits for the party around €120-150 a head in next or something)
I've a feeling I may end up doing the whole thing in Moss Bros.Last edited by DeadParrot; 23-02-15, 16:47.People say I should be more humble I hope they understand, they don't listen when you mumble

You met me, quite simply a hired suit looks like absolute shit on me.
Something cut for a man of my unique proportions is what is needed here.
Besides, paying 70-90 quid on a hire suit vs 110-150 on an actual suit for the wedding party seems a no-brainer to mePeople say I should be more humble I hope they understand, they don't listen when you mumble

I personally would hire the lot. The suits generally look better from experience of bothHis rival it seems, had broken his dreams,By stealing the girl of his fancy. Her name was Magill, and she called herself Lil,But everyone knew her as Nancy.

For my own wedding I hired 4 suits. Cost a fair few quid.
Had a black louis Copeland bought for me for a wedding a couple of years ago. Still looks good. However i dont think I wear suits enough.
Costs was very similar.
On another note, I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on one of those worchester leather bridal belts. For those of you who have purchased, How do they age? Do they lose their shape much ( ie get 'squashed' at the back) ?
The www.equusleather.co.uk stuff looks nice but it's another €40 or so...
Cheers
