Anyone hear the David Walsh interview on off the ball last night? Don't really follow cycling, but from anything I've read since he was embedded with Sky it seems like he has gone native

It has all the previous work's restrictions on it to protect against new software being installed without admin privileges. Even the BIOS is password protected (is that a significant thing? Maybe its not. These are just computer-sounding words that google searches threw up).

I'm fairly certain the laptop is mine as I bought it using a personal research fund, but am not a 100% certain, so can't really go back to the previous IT people to ask for the admin password.

Every file is in dropbox, so nothing would be lost by wiping the whole laptop. But how do I do that and is it guaranteed to work no matter the admin restrictions? Maybe load a windows ISO on a cd and bootload it as a clean install? Not really 100% sure what those words just typed actually mean.

.
You have admin pw? Turn off bios password, wipe pc with a new OS, done. Or else remove the software that is putting the restrictions in place.

No, absolutely zero admin rights, can't install anything, even bios is password protected

Anyone have thoughts on latex vs memory foam vs pocket springs for a quality mattress? Is, say, €1,000 a lot / not enough, to get something decent?

Yeah, it was an odd interview, and I thought he came off poorly in it. He seemed more interested in needlessly arguing with Ger Gilroy (who I think is an excellent interviewer) than anything else. I don't follow cycling much anymore either nor do I understand the Sky story, but Walsh didn't add much in that interview.

So while I'm on leave from work following surgery, the company I work for has been acquired by Japanese overlords. The question now is, will my keycard work when I go back next week?

It's wild country.

Quote:
I am Kerry like my mother before me,
And my mother's mother and her man.
Now I sit on an office stool remembering,
And the memory of them like a fan
Soothes the embers into flame.
I am Kerry and proud of my name.

My heart is looped around the rutted hills,
That shoulder the stars out of the sky,
And about the wasp-yellow fields,
And the strands where kelp-streamers lie;
Where, soft as lovers' Gaelic, the rain falls,
Sweeping into silver the lacy mountain walls.

My grandfather tended the turf fire,
And, leaning backward into legend,spoke,
Of doings old before quills inked history.
I saw dark heroes fighting in the smoke,
Diarmuid dead inside his Iveragh cave,
And Deirdrie caoining[keening] upon Naoise's grave.

I see the wise face now with its hundred wrinkles,
And every wrinkle held a thousand tales,
Of Finn and Oscar and Conawn Maol,
And sea-proud Niall whose conquering sails,
Raiding France for slaves and wine,
Brought Patrick to mind Milchu's swine.

I should have put a noose about the throat of time,
And choked the passing of the hob-nailed years,
And stayed young always, shouting in the hills,
Where life held only fairy fears,
When I was young my feet were bare,
But I drove cattle to the fair.

'Twas thus I lived, skin to skin with the earth,
Elbowed by the hills, drenched by the billows,
Watching the wild geese making black wedges,
By Skelligs far west and Annascaul of the willows.
Their voices came on every little wind,
Whispering across the half-door of the mind,
For always I am Kerry...

Gonna have to do one of these then, then wipe os:
http://www.wikihow.com/Clear-BIOS-Password

EDIT: think there is software that may do it, if you look up bypassing bios pw

I killed a seagull at about 5:20am on Monday morning... One of the big ones.

I was driving down the M50 and it came down almost vertically into the road to get a dead rat or something. It was too late for me to do anything. It made a big bang.

It saw me coming at the last moment and tried to fly up so the front of the jeep just below the bonnet hit it.

It didn't bounce off. The body was stuck to the front of the car. I considered continuing my journey like that but it seemed a bit... brutal? I pulled into one of the safe spots on the hard shoulder thinking it would fall off when I slowed down... it didn't. It flopped off the bonnet but it was still hanging on the front of the jeep.

Its head was stuck in tight in the grill on the front. I got disposable gloves from the back of the car but it was pretty stuck... I tried a metal tool I had in the car but I couldn't get it in behind the head.

In the end I just had to grab it's neck tight and wiggle it until it came free. When I pulled it to the right the beak opened. When I pulled it to the left the beak closed again. It was a little freaky... and still warm.

Strange morning...

It did a bit of damage to the grill but nothing too serious once I got it all clipped back into place and the feathers and blood removed.

A man in a movie theater notices what looks like a seagull sitting next to him.

"Are you a seagull?" asked the man, surprised.

"Yes."

"What are you doing at the movies?"

The seagull replied,

9/2 odds on us dollar not reaching parity with euro in 2015 or 2016. Seems like phenomenally good odds. Guess they've made a mistake there.

Only bought two mattresses this week.

Bought what seems to be a very decent 'pocket spring with latex layer on top' one from IKEA, this will be for the main bedroom: http://www.ikea.com/ie/en/catalog/products/70301702/

Currently sleeping on it sans bed frame (to be delivered this weekend hopefully) and is very comfortable though I'll admit to not being very picky about these kinds of things, find it easy to sleep if tired!

We also bought a Silentnight memory foam mattress from Big Mickey.ie (loads of good things written about him on boards.ie) for €150 to go onto the bed in the guest room, again haven't opened it up yet as the bed has not been put together but it is supposed to be fine for infrequent use.

After doing the research it seems clear that the more you spend, the better you'll get and that spring mattresses are in general far better than memory foam ones, all reflected in the price you pay.

Gis a scenario that it happens in?

Edit - misread. Didn't see the 'not'!

How do you get rid of old mattresses when you buy a new one?
Is it like with electrical goods where the delivery man takes the old one?
