Who would bet 2200 into 27000? It's either an angleshoot or/and a bad ruling, there's no middle ground.

Huge pot.

Blinds 250/500 and three to the flop of K2x3x.

BB Ray Kent (60k) checks & Ciaran Burke (100k) bets 2.5k called by CO Peter Murphy (50K) & BB check raises to 6.6k.

Called by both.

With 23k in the middle the turn brings a 6.

Ray Kent leads 12,225 called by Ciaran Burke & Peter Murphy folds.

River is a 2

Ray Kent shoves for 40k.

Ciaran Burke tanks for 5 mins asking if he has 45?

Eventually folds to be shown Q and Ray rakes in 90k

Edit - Ciaran Burke told me his hand & had it beat obv

The ruling is 100% correct. Poker TDA Rules 2013, Rule 49.

49: Non-Standard & Unclear Betting
Players use unofficial betting terms and gestures
at their own risk. These may be interpreted to
mean other than what the player intended. Also,
whenever the size of a declared bet can
reasonably have multiple meanings, it will be
ruled as the lesser value. Ex: “I bet five”. If it is
unclear whether “five” means $500 or $5,000, the
bet stands as $500. See Rules 2, 3 & 40.

Rule 40.

40: Methods of Raising
In no-limit or pot-limit, a raise must be made by
(A) placing the full amount in the pot in one
motion; or (B) verbally declaring the full amount
prior to the initial placement of chips into the pot;
or (C) verbally declaring “raise” prior to pushing
out the exact amount to call into the pot and then
completing the action with one additional motion.
Under option C, if other than the exact amount to
call, but less than a minimum raise is first put out,
it will be ruled a minimum raise. It is the player's
responsibility to make his intentions clear.

It's not the dealers job to interpret what the players intentions are, if the amount is not 100% clear.

Don't see how JP can make any other ruling except making it 2200, its way to murky otherwise surely, even if the guys intent is pretty clear.

In the twenty two hand above. The player said he meant 2200 as he had not got 22000 at the time also.
