50 Players Last for the EOM

Prize Pool €12,500

Deal Done Heads-Up
1st Stephanie Perch €3,950
2nd Roy Brindley €3,950
3rd Gary Stokes €1,595
4th Gedas Bartkus €1,165
5th Gary Clarke €920
6th James O'Brien €675
League €250

There was a slight error in the prize pool which I've just noticed now.

None of the tournament add-on's (€5 for bonus chips of which €2.50 was to go into the prize pool and €2.50 goes towards the League final) where added to the prize pool. We had 48/50 player avail of the tournament add-on and as a result the prize pool was short by €120.

Apologies I some how managed to set this figure up a zero amount in the back of our system. I will be contacting the 6 players who where in the money and divide this additional money basis on the finishing payouts.

1st Stephanie Perche €40
2nd Roy Brindley €40
3rd Gary Stokes €15
4th Gedas Bartkus €10
5th Gary Clarke €10
6th James O'Brien €5

Looking for a bit of feedback on the structure from everyone who played last night.

I received a few PM's earlier today saying that the structure was too good and that the game went on for to long and it would put some off playing as they have work in the morning.

Bearing in mind we only had 50 players we reached..

Final Table 1:27
Bubble 2:10
Finished 5:00

If this game grows to over 100 player which I believe it will the above times will obviously be later finishing times ect.

Dont have much of an opinion on the structure Id be happy enough if it were quickened up. I would say though the tourney has a much better chance of attracting a bigger field going forward if it were on a Thursday. Alot of people take the Friday off work or dont mind going to work wrecked if they go deep But it being on a Wednesday Id imagine would turn alot of people off playing a tourney they know is going to go on until 5am+

Anyway great tourney, club looks great, nice and spacious and comfortable best of luck with it hope it gets bigger and better

1. Agree on Thursday;
2. Also tricky to get to the Club for 7pm if coming from City Centre (rush hour all the way): so suggest either getting rid of EB or later start time;
3. Reduce the number and length of breaks

Good luck

Structure is good for a 1-night tournament.
+1 for Thursdays, that would also avoid clashes with Champions League games.

I love the club, especially the chairs are very comfortable and not having to play 10-handed for the majority of the tournament is a big upgrade

Agree, Thursday or Friday would be better imo.

Not a big fan of the €5 add on, as I think the players you are trying to get in wouldn't be interested in contributing to League final but feel compelled to pay this as would feel disadvantaged by not having the extra chips.

Also agree to trimming the breaks by at least 5 mins, but understand it may be needed for the dealers and/or chip racing.

Hi All,

Firstly thanks to those of you who have already given feedback either here in this thread, PM on FB and indeed those who rang.

The general consensus so far has been that the structure was too good. Especially when you consider we only had 50 players. I would like to think that we would reach 100+ players on a regular basis.

Let me address some of the points made here and also from those who contacted me outside of this thread.

1: Wednesday v Thursday night
While I am aware Thursday would probably suit more of the players who regularly played the EOM in the Fitz, Thursday night isn't an option for me in the club. Thursday has been our busiest night now for several years and removing this game from our regular players on the last week of the month for the EOM game would go down like a lead balloon.

2: Starting Stack, Early Bird and Tournament Add-on
With an effective total chips of 36k (SS 30k, EB 3k & AO 3K) this seems to be the biggest issue with getting the tournament finished at a reasonable time.

I've had several suggestions made to me. The most common has been to make it 25k with no early bird and no tournament add-on. I'm a little reluctant to remove both the EB and AO. That said I do see the argument for removing the EB more so then the AO. Especially with and early start of 7pm which some of our travelling players can't make.

The tournament Add-On as I mentioned I'm more reluctant to remove. Of the 50 players who played last week, 15 of these are members of the club, of which most of these never (or very rarely) played the FITZ EOM and I expect this number to increase as we run more promotions in the club with seats going towards the EOM game.

For those who are not aware what the tournament add-on is, let me explain. It's an additional charge of €5.

€2.50 of which goes into the prize pool on the night and you get an additional amount in tournament chips equal to what the early bird was (currently 3k).

The other €2.50 goes into the tournament league final (3 month league with approx €13k) and you get 250 chips in the league final (5000 needed to qualify).

3: Re-Entry
Almost all my feedback on the re-entry option have been in favour of a re-entry for the EOM (It was an option in the Fitz EOM). In fact some players travelling from a distance said they'd most likely not travel if there wasn't a re-entry option. This seems to be the one most are agreed on so I'll from next month we will have a re-entry option.

4: Start time and breaks
7pm start time seems to be an issue for a lot of players travelling and is resulting in some players not getting the early bird. Considering players concerns about the finishing time already I'm reluctant to change the start time to a later start time at the moment but I'll reassess the start time once the other adjustments have been made. That said I understand the issue players have trying to get to the club in time to receive the Early Bird Chips so subject to more feedback I may on the matter I will consider removing the EB.
Suggestion to shorten all non chip race breaks by 5 mins this will be in effect from our next game.

Thanks for all feedback so far, keep the suggestions coming in.

Nail on head imo.

Understand that Thursday has always been a popular day in your casino but isn't that the case for most casinos? Big nights out and big poker tournaments are hosted on a Thurs/Fri/Sat for a reason.. because it suits a much bigger group of people. Like Mick, I think you will have a much better chance of attracting a bigger field if its hosted on a Thurs. Thursday is a more popular day for regulars in your casino (and indeed this was also the case in the fitz). The EOM should aim to attract more than just regulars and a Thursday night is even more important for these more recreational players.

Also the tournament takes place once a month which may not deter your Thursday regulars especially if satellite seats are available from a Wed tournament?

Thursday suits me much better personally as its easier to take Friday off and if I don't go deep, there lots of other things I can do on the Friday. Taking Thursday off with the prospect of working friday is not too nice and for ppl who like to keep playing poker on the Down Low in work, hard to consistently explain.

For the folks who work Mon-Fri, I think Wed is the day you want to chill as you are tired from 3 days of work and still have 2 more days to go.

For me personally Thursday > Wednesday > Friday

I can appreciate Thursdays been better for vast majority but for me there’s little difference. Just so long as it’s not on a Friday :-)

Definitely pro re-entry

Against EB for obvious late reg reasons coming from work, tournament add on I’d be easy on

Another option would be to retain the 30k starting stack, get rid of the first 3 levels and start at 150/300 with ante in play from the start.

Our EOM has moved!!!

Starting next week our EOM €270 game will move to the last Thursday of the month.

Based on the feedback we received from last months game we have made the following changes.

1: Moved from Wednesday to Thursday
2: Starting stack reduced from 30k to 25k
3: Early Bird removed
4: 1 Re-Entry

Same great buy-in with €10,000 Guaranteed

Numbers where never going to be great this month with the Unibet open.

next month show be a lot better as it's the night before the Norwegians starts and we normally have a good few of them in my club for a few days before it all kicks off
