"On Friday night, PokerStars.com announced that it will be rolling out online casino gaming alongside its internet poker. As a result, on Saturday morning, I terminated my endorsement contract with them."

Any educated guess what sort of $$$ she's giving up per year?

That's a shame, but fair play to her for sticking to her principles.

She is normally quite entertaining on televised poker, or live streams, and a good counter-balance to the hoddie and headphones brigade.

I'm guessing its buy-ins to EPT events and maybe rake-back off 100% online. She might have had a small retainer, but it couldn't be much if she gave it up that easy.

I actually agree with her statement and the changes since Pokerstars were taken over have being very disappointing.

Got to admire anyone who stands by their principles at potentially significant cost to themselves. Wp.

Fair play to her, the whole post reads well and her decision to jump quickly is admirable.

She is a classy lady alright! Serious guts to stick to her guns there and cancel a contract which was no doubt paying her a healthy sum.

I'm always amazed how often poker players conveniently compartmentalise the moral issue. How they(we) are different from 'The House'.

She says everyone has basically the same chance in poker. That's not true. A fair chunk of winnings comes directly from people who don't or can't understand why the odds are not in their favour or even when they do they cant control the compulsion to gamble anyway.

I've accepted a long time ago poker is for a large part preying on the weak and often degenerate to make profit (I fall into that category myself in other areas for e.g. sportsbetting and indeed poker sometimes).

Obviously it's a great game of skill too and adds some great enjoyment to peoples' lives as a hobby and social outlet so it's not all bad.

But if you are going to whinge about a casino side being set up along a pokersite on the grounds of some moral principle and at the same time you make a living from a similar method..i.e. engineering favorable odds vs lesser skilled opponents in order to profit from them then I can't see this as anything other than a gross double standard.
