    Poker mentoring

    Hi there

Would anyone have any advice for someone starting out and looking for a poker coach?

    Thanks very much

Know your level and what your end goals are. Make sure you get a coach that specialises in what you want to improve, whether is live cash, online cash, live MTT, online MTT, Sit n Go, mixed game etc. If you're a beginner, don't worry about hiring an advanced coach. They are really expensive and probably won't be beneficial to you if you're playing really low stakes stuff.

Do you want to do live 1-on-1 coaching, Skype, Twitch. A one-off session, or a regular thing. Think of which you're going to be comfortable with.

Personally, i'd make sure you have exhausted all the free info and courses out there, and checked out some of the top guys on Twitch who also help you learn a bit. Subbing to a training site might be a lot cheaper than looking for a personal coach. You don't need to go down the coach route so early on if you're only starting out.

If you're already a small winner, you could look at signing up to a staking company that will offer coaching as part of their details, and you'll have some great people to learn from.

    Good luck with it.

i have just started beating the micros after a lot of time studying the game, i could offer what i think is important to study looking back on what i have learned so far.

Im no expert but i can help if you want it.

Hit me up in a private message if you want

(Im not looking for any money for my advice, i just think it also helps me to talk about the game)

I'd agree with all of this, I'd start off with twitch if your only starting off as its free and also consider a subscription to training sites, most twitch players will take the time to engage and answer any questions. Here are a few worth watching(All are MTT players), some you can watch past stream for free others you need to suscribe to watch older videos but all are free to watch live

I would also invest in a HUD either PT4 or Holdem Manager 2. Most decent players use these and it gives you a huge amount of stats on all players as you play but more importantly you use it to analyse your own play afterwards. Try find players of a similar level and regularly discuss hands or swap hand histories

As Flushdraw says i think coaching would be a bit of a waste this early, learn from twitch/training sites, get familiar with HUD, learn the game and how to analyse your own play by regularly saving hands and discuss with others . The next step would b to start using software like Holdem resources and Piosolver which is when i would consider some coaching.
