Ah Jay Jay, used to be in Silks way back in the day. Sure to be fun with him at the helm anyway.

I'm not sure every game will kick off with this stipulation though. Quote:

Good luck with this new venue -
Thanks for your answers to-date. However a charter would clarify how you are going to run the event. I may arrive late - So what time is the latest that you can register/sit down to play the tournament What will the blind levels be at that time. |

Good luck with the venue.
I would be worried about walking out onto O'Connell street late with a few bob though. Is there even any parking nearby? |

Nice place. 7 full tables with an hour wait for alternates meant that by the 2nd break they were still trying to seat alternates so no one got the option to rebuy.. Ended up a 3k freeroll with the club stumping up the 3k ... Nice bit of grub and free beer at the break... Asked 3 different staff members including the poker room manager what the rake in cash game is and got three different answers which was worrying to say the least ... All suggested it was 5% when asked what it was capped at one said 10 one said 15 and third said 20 lol definitely one of the more comfortable poker venues and hopefully they can iron out the obvious problems quickly... Chips were nice .... First deck of cards was atrocious but were replaced by a proper deck at the first break thankfully. Overall I'd rate it as a 6/10 experience.

They are new to IPB and are after adding €3,000 which is super value for players. I'm guessing they've had a ton of last minute stuff to get the club ready for their big opening night. Last edited by JP Poker; 16-11-18 at 09:44. |

Here's a sample charter that you need to post with every game you advertise on IPB.
I wasn't there myself last but I've only heard positive feedback from anyone who I've spoken to. There's always going to be a few hiccups on an opening but by the sounds of things you got a lot right. 1. Who is running the event (organisation, society etc) – 2. The purpose of the event (charity, commercial etc) - commercial 3. Date – 4. Location – 5. Any guaranteed prize pool - €500 Added 6. Registration and Start time of event – Reg 2:30pm, Game 3pm, Late Reg 5pm 7. Any prerequisites (member of club, society etc) - New players must become members first. Id is required 8. How can tickets be purchased & is there a maximum number (in advance, at the door etc) – no max, at the door 9. Type of Tournament (Hold'em/Omaha etc Freezeout/Rebuy etc) – NLH Freezeout 10. Cost of entry - €65 11. How much of the entry fee is made up of registration fee - €10 12. If a rebuy, cost of rebuys/top-up – N/A 13. How many and what duration are rebuys available – N/A 14. % of entry fee/rebuys/top-up going into prize fund – all the €55 15. How many places being paid – 12.5%-15% 16. Is any money from the prize fund held back for future tournaments, if so, how much – 6.5% rounded to the nearest €5 (Max €250) is withheld for the tournament league. 17. Any tickets for future events given out as prizes. If so, how many – 18. Any additional prizes given out (merchandise etc) – N/A 19. Starting chips – 20,000, Earlybird 2,000 up to the end of the first level. 20. N/A 21. Blind levels –
22. Blind timeframes – 20 minutes 23. Are there going to be dealers and their level of skill – yes, highly skilled 24. Will there be a documented list of rules - yes 25. Is there a tournament director – 26. How are disputes handled ; who has final say - TD 27. Are there any cash games offered, if so, please outline the rake for each limit offered – 1-2 NLHE and ROE, rake 10% capped at €5, 10% Capped at €3 (4 handed or less) Last edited by JP Poker; 16-11-18 at 09:45. |

Absolutely never easy on opening night of a club. Adding 3000 to prizepool represented great value, well done for that.
Minor issues will be ironed out, and worth bearing in mind that its impossible to keep everyone happy. However, clarity on rake structures & amounts is crucial, and complete transparency is essential on it. |

Further to what limpwhacker said in post 34 - its a nice place.
In fact its a very nice & comfortable place. IMHO - Better than the SE or the 4 Kings for comfort etc. Very comfortable poker room with 7 tables. Ample room between tables. Could probably comfortable fit another three tables in the room. Nice bar - Free alcohol drinks table service at the Roulette & Blackjack tables Non-alcoholic drinks table service at the poker tables. One private bar/room for private parties. Brief details of their poker tournaments (Thursday to Monday) are on the web site https://www.carltoncasinoclub.com/ca...er-tournaments NO REG Fees for Tournament Re-Entry IMHO they will not bother with detailed posts on here as they have Facebook & their own website - which seems to be trend for some operators at the moment Only downside - 7pm start for poker tournaments - Wheelchair access may be a problem Last edited by BigBadPat; 16-11-18 at 16:20. |

Poker Tournaments suspended - FYI
Poker tournaments suspended for the moment in the Carlton.
Called in last night and the young lady on reception wanted €40 entrance fee. Was leaving when another person appeared and said that for the €40 you got €50 in Betting chips for the Roulette & Black Jack tables - You could not cash-in the betting chips Their web site https://www.carltoncasinoclub.com/ca...er-tournaments states - "New 2019 weekly Poker schedule will be posted on Friday 4th January 2019" Last edited by BigBadPat; 06-01-19 at 17:18. |
