    Is poker in Dublin safe?

This might be a stupid question, but I'd appreciate a genuine response. I've moved to Ireland and will be staying here for about a year. I used to play poker once or twice a month, mainly play 1-2 NL and a tournament once in a blue moon. I thought I'd look to start playing here, but my friend told me poker in Europe is not safe everywhere. In places it's run by the local organized crime, and you could get into trouble if you win against the wrong person who's connected to one of the gangs.

So, how true is this. Are there any good places in Dublin to play poker?

Again, sorry if this is a stupid question, but I'm genuinly concerned here.

    Thank you.

Being seated next to someone with bad hygiene is probably the most dangerous thing that will happen to you playing poker in Dublin.

Dont mind them, they are messing with you. All the established card rooms are safe enough.

...Literally 100% of the places are safe...They are well run, organised places...And more importantly, they are very friendly places, relaxed environment and can be good fun too...Absolutely zero to worry about, unless the woman SATNAV shows up to one of them, she's notorious...

You have absolutely nothing to worry about.

              You should try the Fitzwilliam.

No problem leaving the table and wandering off either, no-one will do a runner with your chips!

Enjoy the games, if you looking to play 1-2 NLHE the Fitzwilliam is your best place for action. Good luck

The owners of this site are yakuza so bare that in mind. Beware of Asians at the tables.

Just a warning to anyone playing poker in Dublin at the moment. My brother was playing cash games in a Dublin casino two weekends ago. He was there all night from about 8pm to 4.30 am and at various times during the night he had an average of €1200 in front of him. At one point he had just shy of €1600 for an initial buy in of €250. On two occasions during the night a foreign guy, my brother described him as being eastern european, approached him after my brother came out of the toilets. The first time he was really polite, asked him for a lend of €100. The second time he was much more confrontational, and actually said to my brother 'you're up quite a bit of money, maybe you should leave now, before your luck runs out'. At 4.30 am my brother decided it was time to leave, the foreign guy was still hanging around, he went up to the cash desk and cashed out about €1150. The foreign lad tapped my brother on the shoulder and just as he did, the floor manager came over and said 'don't let this man distract you from the fact that in 1998, The Undertaker threw Mankind off Hell In A Cell, and plummeted 16 ft through an announcer's table'
