To check for cheating? I would find that incredible. Whilst working there it was a huge battle to get them to do anything to combat the cheating that they knew was taking place. If anyone has inclination, have a look through the results from the EOM for the last few years. The same names crop up over and over again - some of them are good players so its understandable, but some aren't, and their cashing rate is really phenomenal. Some of the players in question have been barred for cheating from other casinos.

I didn't say that chips would be passed from the floor to chosen players, but through a variety of methods players can get access to tournament chips and introduce them into their stacks. The reason it happens (in my opinion) are extremely lax security protocols. The casinos do deal with it to a greater or lesser extent, but (again in my opinion) they don't worry about it too much because it doesn't affect their bottom line. The TD can do some things to mitigate the risk (and you can organise the tournament in certains ways), but ultimately the TD acting alone can have very little impact.
