20,000 stack is pretty shitty for a €300 buy in, also is there reg on the re entry? And whats the structure like?

Is it? Now i dont play too many events in that range but this one is close to home. It's hardly 'loads' though is it? I doubt there is a €300 event anywhere in Ireland with less than 20k

IO Mini - 15k
IO Seniors - 15k

Norwegian Festival - 5 x €350 @ 20k

EDSPC 300 - 20k

Off the top of my head .

If it was a WSOP Event you would get 9k...

20k with 40 min clock is fine imo.

I think players are to hung up on chips and pay no attention to the structure and clock.

I worked at the WSOPE for a few years and their €1,500 bracelets events had 4,500 chips with hr long clock starting at either 25/25 or 25/50

Players just didn't go crazy betting 1k pre-flop on round 1.

Yes the bust out rate at the start was faster then normal. But the structure from the middle of the tournament right up to the end was 10 times better.

Give players 50k chips and the bust out rate at the start is very slow but it ends up with no play when you need it later in the tournament

20k stack 40 min blinds for a $300 event, seriously what more do you want. I've said for years we are spoilt in ireland when it comes to MTT structures. just have to look at WSOP some $1500/$2500 events with 7,500 or 12,500 starting stacks. bet you cant find any other country in the world that offers the same low buy-in tourneys we have with similiar structures we are used to

Personally I really hope one day we will have more WSOP-like structures in Ireland with 100-150bb starting stacks for major festivals (ante from start would be even better) and 1 hour long levels all the way. Tournament would last the same length (or less) and structure in late stage would be way better, nothing worse than playing for a couple of days, bust and have nothing to show for.
It's a win-win: if you bust early you save time, if you go through a few hours play you are ITM and get then really enjoy the end of the tournament.
I can understand huge starting stacks can appeal good players (can accumulate big stacks vs weaker players who make big mistakes post flop) as well as bad players (can see 1000 flops and still have chips), but overall the cons of these structures outweigh the pros.

I totally agree.

You should be able to put someone under pressure for their stack from the very start not sit there for 8 hours with a massive stack doing nothing.
