a hand in my local casino the other night. player in mid position raised, a call on the button and from the small blind. as soon as the big blind folded the sb checks in the dark.
the flop is dealt at which point the small blind (who had checked in the dark) shoves. One player folds, and The dealer is waiting on the next player to act. he hadn't noticed this and at this point one or two at the table point out that he had checked in the dark.
the dealer became very confused, and was completely unaware of what to do. of course everyone on the table had their own view saying that if the original raiser and caller check the action stands but surely not as the bet is illegal? the dealer was reluctant to the call the floor and eventually both players folded and the pot was awarded to the shover.
would the ruling be that the check will stand and if it is checked behind, the sb has all his options on the turn? as far as im aware the shover does not have to commit any chips on the turn, but this leaves alot of room for angle shooting etc?
