Really looks like a turned draw, hard to see him play any made hands like that for value unless he is levelling? Id probably call that off tbh

What about AK here would you call too? i know we might 4bet but lets say we don't and get to the turn this way

do you think bet/calling the turn to this shove is better than check/call, check/decide?

do you really not call we 88 here vs a button 3bet? from our late open?

what hands are you calling the 3bet with? or is your range only a 4bet or fold one?

I fold pre also, although deep you're basically just set mining and the spot that's come up here is prob at the easier end of the weird and tough situations that will inevitably come up post-flop.

Turn I think he can have a lot of hands, obv fd+overs makes a lot of sense but so does an overpair or a set that checked back the dry flop for value and jammed now. With no real read it's tough to know the frequency he will be doing this but generally the standard in this tourney is pretty high (but I might just think this is the case as $150s are usually the highest I play midweek) so I wouldn't presume a random won't be capable of having 95% equity vs you on the turn a decent amount. I don't think people take this line with Tx a lot at all, but T7 and maybe 74 are possibly in there as 2p combos ott.

I call here too tho, readless I think you have to assume he is calling turn a lot with overpairs and generally taking different lines with them.

The only problem with calling the 3bet OOP with your hand is theres no flop without an 8 that you really like. You got a substantially above average flop for two 8's and your still in a gross spot because the pot is so bloated now due to the action pf. I like a fold now and pick a better spot. Flop check is fine after flatting pf.

i disagree i like lots of flops with 88,

tbh i didn't think this was a particularly tough spot jus was interested in some views and i bet small on the turn to induce and pretty much snapped as i believe nobody checks a pair in that board or a made hand in a 3bet pot

Each to their own I guess I just wouldn't be in the school of thought where calling off my tournament life with 2nd pair without getting a big price, I just don't think I'd be good in that spot enough, but by the sounds of it you made the right call. WP

Pre is fine. Never ever folding 88 in that spot

Check flop...wow now think my 88 is good here

                  i check/call turn here..keep pot control,

again once no draws are made on river i check call again nd may even pay of flushe..

How u played it we have to call turn ship nd hope we dodge river.

Lol folding 88 here pre tho.

I dunno, you're gonna be oop for the rest of the hand with a hand that is going to be put in an awful lot of crappy spots by someone good. You say you like some flops? The only flops you should really like are ones with an 8 in them. I'd much prefer 4b calling to flatting the 3b anyway if he 3bets so much. Its just gonna be so hard to make edge postflop against anyone at all competent. The only way you can is if you assume that they spaz 3bet a lot.

Like if you call these 3bets in this situation loads, then you're forced to get your stack in so so often at some stage postflop, and I just don't like that, cos I just don't think you'll have edge.

I just think its significantly better to fold pre.

That being said I like your turn line of inducing against most guys. Although, if you take that line repeatedly with hands like this, you make yourself extremely easy to get owned.

i agree with you TG, but i prefer to take a flop here as i'm not sure what his range is vs my 4bet,

i do remember thinking he was fairly poor and with not sounding like a complete idiot i was trapping,

vs a good aggro gettin it in would be the best line and vs a good aggro a fold would also be good,

i agree about the induce line and i mix it up to stop myself from being exploited,
