Anyone know what this is?

I've been having problems for a while with my laptop. It seems to execute a file every so often of it's own accord that uses up virtually all the memory. If I'm playing poker the sites will inevitably crash and I won't get back in until the file stops running, usually an hour or so. I'm pretty sure the file is called: wuauclt.exe and is a system file. Any ideas?

Its the windows update autoupdate client. i remember hearing other people having similar problems, let me do some googling see if i can find anything
