Good afternoon folks and welcome to Day 1b of the PokerStars UKIPT Dublin are a good performance from some of out players yesterday lets see and hope that the guys playing today will be able to put in the same kind of showing and keep us all entertained for the weekend.

Just getting set up at the moment and having some breakfast, was lateish when I get to bed last night but I can never seem to sleep in enough would of liked another hour crashed out but it is what it is needs be I will hit up the red bull :D

Bumped into Kincsem and The Drunken One on my way in and they both seem in great spirits and Kincsem was well organized with little brown envelopes of money it did look a little suspect him handing over these in the hotel car park :p

For any of you's reading this if you can come and find me if I don't know who you are incase you want to get in on the Last Longest as I know Lady Di missed it, I am down in the room facing the stairs if you have to go up to the 2nd tournament room.

I suspect today will be a lot busier with more runners than yesterday but it should be all good.

Any questions queries etc just let me know and I will do my best to get them done.

Wanna wish everybody the best of luck today so ship ship folks :tren:

Danny can you keep an eye out for my brother? I won't get a chance to call down to see him until around midnight tonight so if you could include him on your list for regular updates I'd really appreciate it.

His name is William Kelly and he's a short, skinny, ugly fella. ;) Tell him I asking for him if you get talking to him.

Cheers mate!

Are you turning up later?

Nik Kamal, chip leader yesterday is probably the guy you played with in UCC. He was based in Waterford Regional Hospital for about the past year or so where he is a Doctor. He has now moved (August) to Cork Regional.

Really nice friendly guy who knows what he's doing at a poket table

We lost one of our own Premierstone busted the event a little while back, just couldn't stay ahead when he was favourite.

First hand he had flopped a flush against a villain with 2 pair who housed up on the river on him then on his exit hand on a board of 8x7x2x all the money goes in with him holding 88 vs AA but a horrible Ace popped up on the river to send him out of the event.

While over getting pics of some of the lads a guy turns around and instantly I know its Olly's bro as they look so alike didn't even need his table draw, he is sitting on the same table as HawkEye and DPablo and is just under starting stack.

While over getting pics of some of the lads a guy turns around and instantly I know its Olly's bro as they look so alike didn't even need his table draw, he is sitting on the same table as HawkEye and DPablo and is just under starting stack.

I had a feeling you'd be able to find him Danny!! :p Ace roving reporter as usual.

Hey Danger Mouse,
Did my back in on Wednesday. (Due to stupid day job! Might try suing it, for loss of time playing poker!)
Resting up at the moment so I can try to make it in over the weekend.
Added tilt bonus: I was supposed to play ME. :-(

We will shortly be moving into the new blind level of 100/200 with an average stack of 15,750 and the clock reads 400/420 but I guess that is off somewhat.

I did manage to catch a hand between Mick Stephens and George Power on a board that reads.

2:s:8:h:7:c:A:h:7:s:

Mick leads the river for 2400 playing about 6000 and George grabs a load of chips which is enough to put Mick all in after thinking about Mick makes the fold are coming to the conclusion that is behind and best to save the chips for another hand.

Was wondering for a little while if Phil Baker was indeed in the field after not seeing/hearing him but I managed to track him down and I stood behind him for a couple of minutes and not a peep out of him which I was shocked about

I have no idea mate but I will ask and see what's what.

You obviously aren't reading the updates as their is a pic of both of them, got Rob's pic but couldn't remember his name.

Great updates Danny, you don't have an easy job as I saw for the first time yesterday esp with having to go between upstairs and downstairs! Great to meet you and glad I missed you for the LL saved myself 50 quid!! :D

Was nice to finally put a face to the name hope to bump into you at future events :)

It's something I enjoy doing but this one is defo a little more tricky as I feel the updates aren't flowing as smoothly as I would like but it is what it is.

Buy yourself something good out of the 50 bananas.

Couldn't find you for the last longer Danny, can I stil get in??

Rattled 77 had said the same to me awhile back, I wasn't sure of who had posted in the original thread and if I had said earlier that if you posted in this I would of come and found people.

I personally dont mind as you's had both said you's wanted in but I think it might cause some hassle if you two end up going on and winning it and somebody who is actually in it might have a problem with you two being let in after we said it would close after two levels.

Sorry dude.

Some action and chip counts from the side room.

I catch this action with Dom involved in it.

The board reads 3:c:Q:s:Q:h:2:h: Dom check calls a bet of 1.4k we get to the river and it comes 7:h:

Dom leads the river for 2125 and his opponent makes the call and Dome flips over A:h:J:h: for the nut flush and scoops in the pot putting him up to about 15k.

Quick update think the Triathlon has been pushed back to an 8pm start.

The TD's announced that when players break they will be going on a 75 minute dinner break to accomodate everybody.

Mick Stephens just busted the event a few moments back he was pretty short and there was a 3 way all in

Mick 7:d:8:d:

Opponent 1 9:h:9:d: (also all in pretty short as well)

Opponent 2 A:h:K:s:

Flop K:d:J:h:10:c: leaving Mick drawing pretty slim

Turn J:c:

River K:s:

Little battle between Fergal Nealon and UKITP Cork 2nd place finisher David O Connor,

Fergal opens from UTG + 1 and its comes around to Al Kenny in the CO who thinks about it but ends up passing and David O Connor makes it 1650 from the button, Fergal weighs up his options and in the end decides it is best to fold.

James McManus adds a little few chips to his stack,I get to the hand on the flop.

Board reads 7:h:A:h:5:d: James bets 1.4k and gets called out of the SB and the player to his right.

Turn 2:h: gets checked by both players to James who leads again at it for 2.4k and the SB check raises him to 6k which James decides to call after a few moments.

River Q:h: and both players check the action, SB announces "no heart" and shows A:c:10:c: and James shows 3:s:4:s: for the straight and moves up to 45k

Rory Brown just came in to the blogging area to inform me that he has unfortunately busted the event in the last few minutes, first hand that does the damage his AJ vs QQ on an Ace high board he lets the guy get there and he fills up on the river.

His exit hand he raise JJ and gets reraised and ends up putting it all in but he runs into KK

More bad news folks we lose Fergal Nealon :(

Fergal shoves from the button just shy of 30bigs with 88 after a mid position raise and a flat call and the original opener wakes up with the Aces, bleugh!

Of coarse he is gonna go an register straight away for the Triathlon.

Phil Baker busto but no details at the moment the guys from PS just got handed his table card.

Other eliminations also we have lost Adrien O Donoghue and Mick Muldoon.

Micks exit was a little sick when he holds K:c:10:c: on Q:c:J:s:4:c: board when him and the villain get into a raising war when all the chips are in the middle Mick finds out he is up against A:c:J:c: and they both end up hitting the flush with Mick obviously coming out on the bad side.

See Alan McClean getting in on a bit of 4betting, a guy on the button opens to 900 and the SB 3bets to 2500 and Alan decides to raise to bet to 7800 and the both lads fold pretty fast, the 3bet knocks the table and says "well played"

Ok for those of you who were looking for players, Mick O Brien I'm not sure about as he tables was broken a good while back, Mark Coyne also had his table broken, Hammo19 is on 50k or so, Henry Port is sitting short on 10k, the guy sitting in the table number of Shane Crosby just busted out about 10 minutes ago when he was all in with Ac3d vs AdQh and another short stack player with 95 the board runs out with a few Queens.

56-63th - € 975

64-72nd - € 840

73-81st - € 710

82-90th - € 650

Is it just me that thinks this payout structure sucks? Play for 2 long days in a €560 buy-in tournament and cash for €650. Or maybe get lucky and move up the ladder to next payout step, a whopping €710!!
40 players will have been payed in the pay-out system before a player recieves double his buy-in as a payout. Is this the way forward in prize-pool payouts? I sincerely hope not. Id be intersted in other opinions.

PS: Great job as usual Danny.

Couple of hand history's,

Smurph managed to get a double up and then some, a guy in early position opens to 1500 and is called in one spot, Smuprh on the short stack shoves all in for 7875 and the original raiser thinks about his action and mucks with the action back on the last player he makes what looks to be a crying call, Smurph asks "do you have a pair" and the guy flips over 3:d:3:h: and she is in good shape when she shows her 5:c:5:h: which holds and she moves back up to over starting stack.

Bad news on the Dave Caffrey front he shoves the button after getting short for 6875 when its folded to him the SB makes the call after some deliberation and the BB folds.

Dave Q:h:2:s: vs 4:s:4:h:

He isn't looking the best when the flop comes 6:c:2:d:3:h:

Bink the turn thou when it comes Q:d: but gets a cruel blow when the 5:c: falls on the river to complete the straight. Pretty sure Dave is gonna hit the bar for a pint.

Paul Hanley is pretty short now on under less than 5k after nearly securing himself a double up when he shoves all in with K:s:Q:s: and gets a call with A:s:10:s:

The board comes Q:c:5:s:6:s: looking to avoid the spade as he holds two of the flush outs.

10:c: on the turn and Paul just now has to fade the river but a A:h: springs up to scupper his double up.

It might be based on the Stars online payouts(in a rush so can't check now) which are woeful too.

Out at 00:40. A slow start took me over 2 1/2 hours to win my first hand. Was down to 9k, got back to slightly over starting 15k, and dwindled to less than 10k.

Only good hand was flopping a set of jacks against 5starpool, and going all-in after the turn. He took a long time to fold. He said he had draws.

Almost won a hand around midnight with AhKh, flop 22K,8,2. About 12k in the pot at the turn, but a 2 on the river split the pot. He had KQo

Final hand blinds 400/800 ante 100. 5starpool raised to 2k. I called in the big blind with 5Qo (1200 to call into a 4200 pot.) Flop 678,x7. I bet my last 5500 at the river. 5starpool dwelt for minutes and called with TT.

Good night.

Arrived into the hotel but ended up needing to run across the road to the cash machine, from which turns around the oft-photographed and instantly recognizable Feargal Nealon, who is understandably frightened when I say "Ah Feargal, tis yourself" and attempts to deflect my attention towards the man still at the cash machine, who only happens to be Richie Lawlor (the real one).

After brief introductions, the two lads direct me towards Danny's secret blogging lair where - disappointingly - I find him blogging, along with Pokerstars blogger and perennial top-20%-of-field-but-not-in-the-money-buster Mark Convey. We are soon joined by Kincsem, who delights in telling us it's taken him over two and a half hours to win a pot, before he and Mr. Convey - who had been discussing his intention to get shoving once he got back to his table with his PS colleagues - head back to the action.

Hello DeadParrot here, Keane's Original post below:

After brief introductions, the two lads direct me towards Danny's secret blogging lair where - disappointingly - I find him blogging, along with Pokerstars blogger and perennial top-20%-of-field-but-not-in-the-money-buster Mark Convey. We are soon joined by Kincsem, who delights in telling us it's taken him over two and a half hours to win a pot, before he and Mr. Convey - who had been discussing his intention to get shoving once he got back to his table with his PS colleagues - headed back to the action.

A short visit from Mrs. JP (missed the introductions) was notable for the sick, sick burn she dealt to Danny in the few minutes she was around - "You're probably better at blogging than you are at poker" :pac: - and she left just as Mark Convey arrived back, lamenting the suckout, bust out and subsequent needling dealt to him by the effusive Max Silver minutes after the resumption of the action.

At this point, Danny decided we needed to go a-wandering, but first decided to send me upstairs to see how many tables remained in the side-room. I clamber up the stairs, turn the corner and boom, there, not three yards from me, is Ms. Boeree. Obv, I immediately turn and run back down the stairs before I say or do something of a romantic nature I may later regret, pulling off the best bluff of the night by making up a plausible number ("Ah.... Four!") when Danny enquires as to how many tables there were up there.

Off we go to the main area anyway, and I'm immediately starstruck with Big Deal On the Internet-type celebrities everywhere I turn, from the debonair Dara O'Kearney swilling red wine like a fine cognac, around the room to Irish Open runner-up Paul Carr, and down to the cash area where Vivki Coren is working her best chat-up lines on a hapless Feargal Nealon (good friend of mine, met him at an ATM).

Eventually, Danny can make no more excuses and meanders off to do some, you know, blogging and that, and I'm lucky enough to bump into an indecisive Conor (aka NewApproach) who I have little difficulty convincing a trip to the bar is preferable to a trip to the cash tables.

We have quick couple of pints, wander around, check out the dealers (I can confirm, Deena is the hotness), before deciding it was high time we went and bothered Danny some more.

Imagine my distress - not to say terror - when upon entering the Blogging Lair (the caps are deliberate, that's its official name now) I am again greeted by none other than Ms. Boeree herself. Obv when I say "greeted" I mean "am accidentally in the same room as".

Still, far be it from me to panic in these situations (irony intentional), I saunter over to a seat beside Dr. Maxwell and affect my best attempt at suave nonchalance, which admittedly is somewhat undermined by a severely bloodshot eye that I've had an eyelash in for several hours and haven't been able to remove. Oh well.

Somehow, as though the gods themselves were smiling down at me, the conversation - which is pleasantly somewhat inclusive of everybody in the Lair - turns to a topic on which I would consider myself an almost unchallenged authority, namely Cork-bashing. This occurs when Liv makes the grave error of saying/thinking "How bad could it be?" in reference to Barrys' Tea, or lolBarrys' as it's known to non-cretins. I make my feelings about said tea brand known, she takes a cup anyway, I raise eyebrows in a "how bad does it suck?" expression, she gives a shrug with a "Yeah it's shit, but whatevs" feel to it.

What can I say, I'm pretty much happy with how the whole interaction went.

Anyway...

From there wandered back out to main room, where Danny introduces the Venerable V for Vendetta, to whom I tell the story of how I once came to steal a pair of PistolPeter's socks (let's hope he never reads this). There is some talk about Snickers bars, Mars Bars, some shop near the Sporting Emporium and, finally, incongruously, fridge magnets- namely a snow globe-shaped one that the aforementioned Mr. Nealon brought home to Danny from Florence. My confusion about how the fridge magnets fit into the overall flow of the conversation was assuaged by Mr. Vendetta, who authoritatively reassured me that the whole thing made sense.

At this point, it became clear that I was out of my element Donny, and when Ollie offered me a lift home I could only gratefully accept. Having been expertly chauffeured to my door in what I can only describe as a fucking NICE car, I then set about writing this, which I believe is my first ever proper Trip Report on IPB.
You can see why I don't typically do them, I'm a rambler who is incapable of describing simple scenarios without delving into minute detail - it's a disease. Nevertheless, I expect to turn up again tomorrow, since - as I said - good night.

And play has finished for the night the clock reads 140 runners but there is probably less than that, am very happy to report that Dom has made it through I for some reason thought I had 5% of his action but nope its only 2% but no matter its always good to have the sweat.

Will receive chip counts and whatnot a little bit later but I will probably post them up tomorrow morning at some stage, its been a hell of a day very busy with all the extra runners but I hope you have liked the coverage I was able to bring to you today.

The same as yesterday folks I am really looking forward to seeing how our guys faired in the chip counts, last years winner has certainly been on the charge today and he is rocking the top of the leader board with roughly 195k which smashes yesterday chip leader of Nik Kamals 122k now lets see if he can put the run together to try and defend his title.

Gonna hit the bar to have a pint or two and catch up with a few folks to hear the horror stories the suckouts and general banter.

Tomorrow we will have both Day 1a and Day 1b joining up for play from 2pm there will be roughly 200ish coming back for Day 2.

So as always please do come and join us tomorrow for more action from the UKIPT Dublin 2011, for those of you who I missed in updates today apologies as I am only 1 man there is only so much I can do :)

I am gonna link a picture which I find a little funny, only dawned on me after awhile that Liv gave Sean a bit of stick on the UKIPT Cork coverage for taking a big hit to her boyfriend's stack when he made a call for his tournie life, she thought it was a little on the dodgey side but for the past while they have been sitting at the same table.

Catch you all on the flipside :tren:

Pretty enjoyable if uneventful day, first table I have Don Fagan and 72over on my immediate left, had 99 3 times and was 3 bet every time I raised with them. Lost a 6k pot early on with AK on a A37 10 10 board against 33. Struggled a shortish stack for most of the day and finished on 15100.
Managed to stay afloat by 3 betting a serial 2.1X raiser 4 times and was never called.

Hope to get some run good early on tomorrow.

Well done on the updates & pics Danny.

Pocket 10's (was raised on my c bet on a k J rag board:()in the very first hand of the day was my strongest hand for 7 hours and trying to pick spots with Kevin McPhee going on 'super duper aggressive' for long periods at a time 2 positions behind made things a little difficult. Very few soft spots on a tough enough table

Got a bit unlucky very early for a 8k pot when i had KQ on a K 9 6 board. English lad to my right ( aggressive and really good player!) pre flop raises... c bets flop, I flat, Q on the turn, same action and an Ace on the river. He bets I call and he tables A6.

Card dead for all the remainder and I think I did quite well to mix it up and stay in the game for as long as I did. New guy to the table makes a raise of 950 (b- 200-400 his stack 9k) early position. I have 10,900 and ship with AQ.......Jason Thompkins wakes up with AK and flats the 3 bet. Goes back to original raiser and he tanks for a few seconds saying " I could do with a treble up and eventually decides to fold. When we table the card original raiser says .." I had one each of them" (KQ) like that was a good f...... thing for me! Board is a blank and that is that. 95% sure from his body language (Jason might disagree) hat I was getting a call from the original raiser... ah well..

Did nothing wrong, card dead so all positive's taken from the game. Might give the high roller a spin as I spent my hour break on the omaha table and spun up the guts of the ticket!

Finished up last night with 102k / gavonater 110k. going back at 600/1.2k so healthy stacks :).
Got moved to a dream table yesterday, 8 really tight players and 1 good english player the 2 of us chipped very nicely, 6 of the original tight players were knocked out and replaced by 5 good players including mully to my direct right (neither of us knew who eachother was until bag and tag so it might have changed things a bit). By the end of the night with 7 good players seemed like every hand was min raise / 3 bet and a nice few 4bets so the last level i tightened up alot, won apx 25k on 2nd last hand of the night bvb -v- chipleader, dunno if he posts here so not gonna say hand yet.

Gl all still in

The one where it's all in the present tense please :p

If you can see them chronologically it ought to be the last one before I deleted a load of it

C'Mon Gorrrrrrrrr!!!
